M8 Tracker

I get what you want, man.

I’m just expressing my surprise at myself for practical usage not turning out like the theory I had in my head. Really didn’t expect to take to the tracker style as quickly as I did, despite previous experience with Sunvox.

One thing I’ll probably try in the near future is recording audio of my real time playing into MPC One or computer, then importing the audio as samples into M8. This would be the way of mixing the more programmed-sounding beats with instruments played with a lazier time feel that other M8 users have done.

it’ll all work out one day I guess  trash80 is so talented i don’t even like using his handle lol, I just wish it wasn’t always left up to akai and roland all the time … they’ll never make something like the M8 and they get most of the market to themselves boo

I’ve used mine more for production (song mode) - putting a song together, adjusting track levels, setting command values, etc. - than trying to play it like I’d play my MPC One’s pads. The M8 buttons are well designed for flying around the machine for production tasks.

Well, Polyend kind of advertises for you!
Seriously though, last week I heard about the Polyend Tracker Mini and I was stoked, but then saw the feature set and put in a preorder for the M8 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not talking shit about Polyend. I do like their OG Tracker and a few of their other instruments. It’s just funny that the ads for their new product prompted my M8 order

It was the wise decision.

Has anyone found the project upload for that ess track? Cant see it anywhere on the discord…

I haven’t tried myself

Pinned message in the “ressources” section of the discord if i remember correctly.

I can’t find the bloody resources section! I hear it hangs out on the left but its not on my screen. All rather irritating.

discord is a pain in the yaris

Yep, it’s on the left, under the “M8 stuff” thing :

Ah ok. I hadn’t read the rules. You need to read them and click the icon. everything has now appeared. Im a classic ignorer of instructions. Then I wonder why I spend so long problem solving.

omg, managed to figure it out. was scratching my head for a few days in the process.

remapped shift to L2 (trigger) as on m8 shift is a left hand button n is used in combos. most configurations have all 4 buttons mapped to abxy which might be fine if youre not accustomed to the m8 hardware. much better like this imo.

[I bought an m8 new from dirtywave, and will be buying an mk2 when they come out. just messing around with this for fun]

maybe i am missing something, is there a way to sample an exact loop (relative to the tempo) like 1 or 2 bars for instance ?
wanted to bounce some audio in to a sample
this is while i was sequencing and sampling an external instrument

is a bit tedious getting the exact end point dialed in each time
for example sp404mk2 has endsnap while sampling and smpltrek lets u specify length in bars

I don’t think you can dial the length in advance, but if you hold option while changing the start or end point it will snap to the tempo by steps. Opt+Left/Right by step, Opt+Up/Down by 4 steps.
