Not too expensive with a full dx-7 engine makes this pretty interesting. I’m interested in the workflow. Hopefully based on the UI layout they’ve taken some cues from Elektron designs. A hardware DX-7 emulation with a good UI would make it a killer synth.
Looks like you can already order them on Aliexpress.
Looks cute. They already made a controller keyboard with a built-in DX7 emulation, but this is more appealing to me. If it’s as cheap as I expect it to me I could certainly see myself buying it on a whim. And then running back to my FM-for-dummies Digitone II with the nice subtractive filters.
Cant say I want it, few controls, small and fiddley- have good FM synths on my iPhone but I can see how it will attract people who don’t like using phones etc for music, especily if its super cheap.
Did exactly it. Comes in 1-2 weeks to the US. Only ~$75 now, shows it’s 50% of the regular price. Also it has resent discount (after I’ve bought it) down to $68.
While I am genuinely curious about it, I’ll be waiting until I see more of how it works before considering it.
Most of the little groovebox-ish synths like Volcas or Aira compacts I’ve had have been sold after realizing I only ever use one portable thing anyway.
Is it a sketchbook for starting musical ideas, or is it a stand-alone device for finishing a track? Obviously, it has limitations. Some limitations limit the scope of the device. These limitations are acceptable. For example, an acoustic piano has an acoustic piano sound, and most people are fine with that limitation. Other limitations, however, inhibit the process of making music. Or they necessitate the use of additional gear. So, from the soon-to-be reviewers, I am less interested in a breakdown of the parts, and more interested in, to what extent, it can be used, solo, to create music.
Thanks for clarifying that. I was afraid that was the case. When a device is small/portable, has a battery, has built in effects and a sequencer, it seems to be selling itself as a stand-alone device. But this is too limited for that, I guess.
