Could anyone confirm if the Ableton Move now allows for quantized looping after the new Midi In/Out update?
Anyone know of any good options for powering the RC505mk2 via a powerbank? I accept it’s possibly a niche request given the size and build of the thing, but you never know!
Also after the 2.0 update recently to the SH4D I was hoping there might be an update to the RC505c but alas not. I only want one feature to compete it for me, the ability to set a decay parameter on loops to allow for frippertronic style looping. Add a decay option and it’ll be my perfect looper (almost!)
Or a mk3… smaller, steel enclosure, slightly more subdued styling, same faders and a decay option and I’ll buy it in a flash!
Birdcord 9v center negative. Done.
Size doesn’t matter. Power consumption do. With 1A it should be ok. 1.5A to be confortable.
20 000mA.
Why would they update a Boss looper when updating a Roland synth ? Did they implemented a looper decay on it ?
Usually not much updates with RolBoss. Spam them with that feature request with bots to get a chance…
Thanks for the tip on Birdcords! Here’s a link to a dedicated thread for those interested.
Sadly, my bass frequencies and kick drums are still distorting:((
Any ideas?
edit: full factory reset seems to do the job (for now), such a strange bug.
So, if I understand correctly, overdubbing a slaved looper is impossible?
OT doesn’t do it, Microcosm is just sloppy timing when receiving clock, is there a looper device with solid timing when slaved?
I do it all the time on my two RC-505 loopers (mk1 & 2). And my S-4.
This should work on any looper that uses MIDI clock?
Works with Blooper.
On MKI slave is ok if you receive only clock. With too much midi data you get timestretch fluctuations because of clock jitter.
On Areros it worked slaved but I had buggy behaviors I couldn’t explain.
OT can overdub slaved, with recorders and FLEX.
I haven’t experienced clock jitter. Sounds nasty. My 505s are sweet and reliable when synced, which is why I use them.
Did you send it notes and CCs…?
It is a known problem. I mostly tested that with RC500 and it freezed. Obvious jitter adding notes when you want to sequence RC500 drums. Forget continuous CCS…
And I had jitter with 505 MKI slaved at start for sure.
OT will not overdub pickup machines when slaved, hadn”t thought about using flex and overdubbing them, thanks!
I send it MIDI start/stop and clock. I have no need to send it anything else as I’m just using it to capture audio loops. I’ve never tried an RC500 though but I do capture tight sequences and solos, pads etc.
BTW on the subject of jitter, I asked my (far wiser) pal about why I might never have experienced it. This may be interesting (it was to me).
Here’s a little something Cirklon does that might not be done by too many (any?) other devices. The MIDI spec allows system realtime to take priority over all other messages to the extent that it’s allowed for a clock byte to be sent during a channel message, if that’s when it’s due. If a note message starts transmission 300 microseconds before a clock tick is due, Cirklon will send things like 90 F8 3C 7F, which is impossible for a USB MIDI interface to do. So in Cirklon the F8 would only be 20us late, but most other devices will delay the clock tick by 660us while the note message completes.
This means that worst case jitter on a cirklon clock byte is under half a millisecond, where on most things it’ll probably be over one millisecond.
This sounds nasty ?
Just ordered my fourth RC 505. I missed clock jitter.
2nd MKII. Planned to jam with friends for our 50’s birthday, June 21st. I couldn’t find a better setup. With 2 mics, guitar, bass, synth with synced arp.
I wanted something simple ! Guitar modelers with drums and looper didn’t make it. I am selling RC5, Ditto +, Donner Circle, Nux MG 300.
A Sheeran Looper + is on its way but I am pretty sure I won’t keep it : midi in only. Not possible to sync an external drum machine or synth to beat for instance…
(Maybe it has USB in/out, but if I have to use an USB host in that case I rather use Loopy Pro).
I am still interested in Loopy Pro I bought but I won’t be ready to set it up. I bought midi / audio interfaces (Xtone Pro and HB MP500) to use LPPro. Not convinced yet. Noisy switches.
I’d want the cake and eat it : something that can make everything with ease of use.
Loopy Pro seems to have all I need, with very configurable stuff. But I have to dive in…
I’m interested in the EHX 95000. Is it possible to group the individual loops? For example I want to group four melodic loops that are in the same key and use the looper like a four track recorder with a tape loop.
The infamous dreaded rang III !
Do you mean resampling, bounce ?
I think it is possible to bounce to stereo master or something.
Never tried EHX loopers, I prefer stereo.
I don’t see what you mean ?
There is a Boomerang Phase III in my area, 400€. No fear for it. I’d like to try it one day. I guess I will have to try all existing midi sync loopers…
