Can’t wait to see the videos of the swarm of people trying to demo this at NAMM. But really want to see Nick Batt drool.

This is huge because maybe just maybe Yamaha will say hmmmm……

Also it says in the website they will be built to order…wonder if I ca. use my kids college find as a deposit?!

There is something so bloated and grandiose about this that I find so uninteresting.

It just feels like a massive marketing gimmick.

Here I come with another stupid question :
Do you think it can be set as a mono synth ??

49-voice unison

Now we’re talking

I don’t think so. The voice setup in this synth is very different from a traditional synth. All vcos, envelopes, filters and vcas are linked to a specific key. For example, the VCOs linked to C3 can’t play any other note than C3. The VCFs linked to D2 can only play when D2 is pressed etc. It’s really a quite simple arrangement, even though it requires a lot of circuits.

That’s my assumption as well.
That would be a bit silly to use it for mono stuff but I was curious about the architecture.

I’ve had my hands on both a PS-3100 and a PS-3200, but didn’t really fall in love with any of them. They have a particular, «reedy» sound to my ears. The resonators in the PS-3100 were quite cool (they’re also in the 3300), but that was about it for me. I love them for their unique concept and looks though.

If I was to wish for a reissue of an over-the-top dinosaur synth it would have to be this:

totally agree with the fact that this is tacky and ostentatious for a sole proprietor even if you’re rich and have a ton of studio space

it’s definitely cool for universities which i guess would make it accessible to interested parties living anywhere but here in the ol’ u.s. (where education is unaffordable)

Call me crazy but i’m considering pre-ordering it. Bit concerned about repairs but when i had a Yamaha CS80 it never let me down for 25 years. Something about it that screams buy me.

You are not the only one in that boat. If I could justify using up even more space for instruments (and a large wad of cash) I would probably do the same. It doesn’t help that I have had the chance to lay my hands on a 3100 several years ago which was absolutely wonderful, and the 3300 is essentially three of those in a trenchcoat and then some.

I am also gassing for this hard. I’ve been saving up for a house but I’d rather have this.

Wow, it sounds absolutely incredible, and not something I’d expect from Korg’s analog era. I mean - never heard such clean and powerful tones, totally different from MS-series.
You can immediately record a 10 LP set of 70’s space ambient just on one preset!

i hope aphex twin makes some preset banks for this. think most folks under 30-40 only know of this one because of him haha
