Korg Multi/Poly

Thank you. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not used the Multi/Poly, I like Korg as a company and I’m sure this thing can rock, but there’s really nothing on the market that comes close to the Virus in any respect… Arguably the sound engines of modern digital synths are on-par but considering the other bells and whistles, there’s no comparison.

I wonder if there is a MIDI solution to offer these additional controls via a third-party knob box…

The important difference that Virus has its own distinctive sound whereas Korgs usually are much more universal, and also brighter.
Virus is ookay, but not the best for emulation of vintage analog sounds, while the whole Korg heritage is endless remakes of MS and PS series, plus later borrowings from Prophet VS. If that’s your thing, of course.

Found post on GS that this synth is definitely an extension of AL-1 engine from Oasys/Kronos.

This looks like a very nice synth.

But seriously Korg, you can’t make those fking wood cheeks full height at this price point, are you kidding me?

Hope they will release a module version. Or even better: a 49 key polyAT version with dedicated controls for the 4 oscillators and 2 filters. It may even replace my Iridium keyboard of they do that…

Probably, but that’s nothing compared to having it on the synth in my opinion.

I know but it seems Korg and Roland especially are taking us for idiots.

The more videos I watch of this synth the more I want it.

I’m excited for this. Glad I held out on getting a Modwave. This covers everything what I wanted and some. The price is tough.

I’m getting hooked on this as well. The range of sounds you seem to be able to get from it looks astonishing. Would have loved an additional set of outputs to further utilize its multitimbrality, but can see it pair really well with Hapax or Push already.

Initially also thought this was much more my cup of tea than the new Digitone II, but now I can see them being a super powerful combo that almost perfectly complements each other. M/P has a keybed, DTII a super powerful midi sequencer, there is almost no synthesis overlap between the two. DTII brings the drums.
I could see this being a very self contained “mini” setup
EDIT: I guess this could be said of any synth with a suitable keybed, a range of synthesis methods and multitimbral capabilities. M/P just made me realize it.

Welp, I traded some more gear in and preordered this. Gonna be a bit before it gets here but I’m stoked!

I like it.

But since it’s a forum for people like us, I’ll just say, “fucking USB B”.

Full size B though!

I’d take full size B over C anyday personally!

I didn’t see any other posts from you up-thread so I’m missing the context here… what is your objection to this synth and these two companies?

Its not just synthesizers. This feeling crosses over into Cameras as well. Fuji, Nikon and Canon. I think it stems from the fact that they used to be truly innovators of their field. The gear they bought out was so well built(most of the time). And i think they just look so cheap now. The sounds? Well the Zen Engine is tired. A VA Engine in 2024? No come on why not try harder? Okay its a bit of a whinge. But i just feel its a cash grab these days with these big companies. Sorry if ive offended anyone whose bought one of these.

You’re not wrong on the cash grab part. They’re a business. Innovation and creativity is risk and takes creativity.
