Korg miniKorg 700fs

The original through a stereo delay is a thing of incredible beauty, I’ll be playing it tonight. Mine has a modified filter and it is bananas, the bass shakes all the dishes in my cabinets. When I play it I have to open up all the cabinet doors, move things around to make sure thy aren’t touching, and throw a couple towels around in there. The doors have to stay open for whatever reason in order for things to not rattle, I guess resonance. No other synth I own has such a powerful effect at the same volume. I would love to modify the new one in the same way, I didn’t do it though, the original owner did. I’m only the second to own it. My repeat function doesn’t work at all but whatever lol. I might have posted this photo before but take a look at this beauty! It’s definitely seen some years!

Are these still selling for approximately $2500USD new? I’ve not been able to find one yet but I am very curious to compare the build and sound to the original.

Dude from all the demos the single oscillator sound is really close to mine in the mid and high ranges, in the bottom two switched ranges mine definitely sounds chunkier but still very similar, that’s hard to say if it’s just a youtube thing though, because I’ve noticed that most synths seem to have less bass in demos versus when I use them in my house, the bass is much much beefier in my setup always, so I’d guess that it’s probably the case here too. The filter sounds dead on with mine too except that mine gets a little wilder at the extreme ranges with resonance enabled. Basically it sounds just like mine, but I don’t have the second oscillator, ring mod, etc so I can’t speak to those functions.

Great add-ons.

Totally! My fav effect is the modulator 2, its incredibly musical. They all sound great though, especially the tuned noise is very moody and something I haven’t heard in any other synth.

The traveller vibrato, long sustain and of course effect on/off switches are also missing on the 700. All of those are fun to play with when sequenced or the arp is running.
The traveller vibrato is a sine wave modulating the filter, only the LP if I’m not mistaken.
I would like it to go a bit slower actually.

Was that me and Zali?
I used to hump my 700S around to Raagnagrok gigs for a while.
Thankfully it’s still in fine condition, though has always had one wonky key. It really has a uniquely gritty growl unlike anything else I’ve heard.

It was at The Others and I’m trying to recall the name of the band - you were maybe even there. There were three or four synthesists all in a row, and I particularly noted the miniKorg as I think it was the first time I’d ever seen one.

I copied this from a video on youtube showing how to modulate the attack:
CC 16 Highpass
CC 17 Lowpass
CC 18 Attack
CC 19 Percussion/Singing
CC 20 Repeat
CC 21 Vibrato Speed
CC 22 Vibrato Depth
CC 23 Portamento
CC 24 Osc Balance
CC 25 Pitch (tuning)
CC 26 Coarse Tune
CC 27 Fine Tune
CC 28 Reverb Amount
Also all the switches give off CCs

Do you have the link?

What do you mean by « modulate the attack »

Modulate the attack time of the envelope.

Do you mean that all the switches have a CC number?

According to what the maker of this video writes in the description, the list of parameters are modulateable with those CCs. So basically all the essential parameters, which is insane if it all works. I will definitely test it tomorrow.

It’s very kind of you to share this. Thanks.

Only the sliders, not switches, I miswrote it.

It seems this thing doesn’t send midi out through USB, right?

So I can’t use this as like the most awesome mono synth ever (or at least best looking one) AND play the 37-key version of a Mozart sonata with the Deluge as a sound module?

For example.

Pretty sure it does.

Manual says USB port sends and receives midi data.

Close enough, I’d say
