Runs on batteries and internal speaker.
Whats not to like?
This is like a modern version of the all-in-one record player I got for my 10th birthday. That was a piece of junk but I loved it and played my records to death through its tinny speaker.
This looks much nicer.
Korg really on the straight to Bad Gear pipeline.
Unless the internals are really good, why would anybody buy this over an actual serious turntable?
Me too. Just very useable and maybe great for sampling?
Its portability.(batteries and lightweight)
Like @VappyHalley says, handy for sampling, plus The Kids might buy it to play all their Taylor Swift records.
Fair enough. It’s just that I see vinyl as inherently not really portable, but I suppose I’m not the target audience.
By all means, I don’t want to see Korg fail.
Anything that helps the vinyl revolution gets a tick from me.
from first hand experience, I will say: she presses on shitty vinyl. I don’t recommend buying it.
anyway, these are really cool. the pricing’s pretty wild though. there’s actually four of them, with varying features (and prices listed):
Prices start at £359 for the Handytraxx Play, rising to £699 for the Handytraxx Tube. The Handytraxx 1bit is priced at £919.
Oof.
Looks like there’s actually 4 models:
The Handytraxx Play, Tube, Tube J, and 1-Bit.
Priced at: £359, £699, £1099 and £919.
I wonder how vinyl heads will like these, they tend to be very particular with what they consider to be good.
The Play is the more performance/ dj one and probably better for people actually looking to sample.
The idea of portability for vinyl seems kinda stupid to me though. Like… if you cared about the care and longevity of your vinyl you wouldn’t take it out into a sunny place while camping, for example.
Better than the Stanton portable turntable that can’t read the 33t (don’t remember how you call it)
I like the idea of a built in looper and FX. Now you can ‘mix’ vinyls with a single device
Wait, that’s not making a joke?
The play commercial is goofy as fuck lol.
Yeah, excuse me while I take a stack of vinyl and a record player to the park and start scratching on a bench. I guess Korg saw all those people taking their SP-404s to the park and figured they would want to take a record player with them too.
Seems like it could be the gold standard for an all in one type solution… hard to think it would compete with a technics if you already had a nice mixer with a preamp or whatever
I got basic Projekt turntable and along with the related stuff it took no more than 200€. And its not less portable
Does it run on AA batteries though?
It looks like 6 AAAs
Just last week i went to a nice restaurant with my wife and while we were waiting for our food i took out my record player and started scratching the shit out of my dads old abba records.
