This is a thing though … can’t remember what the movement is called.
I was a Mobile DJ in the early 80’s. I had twin turntable and boxes of Vinyl. Oh and Rope Lights too. I was booked every weekend for any type of event. Loved it.
Id have loved something like this for checking the intro time of records. Would have been really handy.
I would bet money that the tube one will sound good. They’re not messing around with the build materials and they are including a JICO remake of the Shure M44 series cartridge, and JICO is the real deal.
The play looks the only one with a pitch adjustment knob, which is a bummer.
The clipper cartridge on the highest end model is almost certainly overkill on a table like this, unless the tube model is actually REALLY good. The 1bit dsd model is pointless at this price point and with the cartridge included. PCM is fine. DSD is the kind of thing you worry about after you already have thousands of dollars of analog equipment.
I bet they’ll all sound pretty good, though. I have one of the sound burger remakes from 2022 and it sounds way better than it has any right to. Doesn’t hold a candle to my real turntables, sure, but it’s actually a fantastic value for the money and is also portable. One of these (or the sound burger) would never be my only turntable, but these almost certainly won’t suck.
They are belt drive tables, though. Scratching on a belt drive table sounds like a terrible idea in every way I can imagine.
The bass when listening from the included speakers.
Those prices…
Guess I’m sticking with the trusty old PT-01.
Theres always a trade off with portability. No Sub woofers i guess.
Remember getting mugged for a Sony Discman in the 90s? True story kids
Why wouldn’t most people just get this?
It got no monitor, i use my reloop spin a lot for listening even if it doesn’t have big sounds
I was a little shocked at the prices. If I wanted a turntable I’d buy ‘a proper one ‘ or a cheap pt scratch thingy.
EDIT MY BAD Thanks @rg01a
SHOULD HAVE READ FIRST
Blatant rip off of my first TT haha. Vestax Handytrax
I think these were originally used by diggers who would listen to records before buying in their neighborhood friendly record shops!
Also fun for picnics in the park!
These days I have PT-01 for park hangs and a nicer setup for the house!
FURTHER EDIT AFTER READING UP.
might buy the play/tube for my son who uses my pt01! Think these look fun for an extra table for non home situations. probably would be fun to dj with one of my SPs as the second table
Not a ripoff.
“Developed in collaboration with Toshihide Nakama, former President of Vestax and co-creator of the Handy Trax”
As I mentioned in my first post in the topic, those sound burgers are excellent little turntables for the price. Can’t be beat for $200 (and honestly I’d rather buy the sound burger than something like a u-turn)
For portability, they should have reproduced something like this instead (SONY PS-F5):
A friend of mine owns one and he used to enjoy it very much. But now it need repairs.
This product just feels like they stole the Reloop product and slapped a Korg logo on it.
https://www.reloop.com/reloop-spin
I agree this is a miss on Korg. Trying to smash your way into a space with a product that already exists is a strange move. Maybe someone from Reloop got hired at Korg
That’s what I was fittin to say lol
Can it scratch well?, tried pt-01 and didn’t like that at all.
I have a reloop spin and it is fun… the best part is using Bluetooth to sample YouTube honestly… but they have such a crazy aftermarket that I keep thinking one day I will put money into it and make it crazy… they have while stores that just sell upgrades for it… they are fun… not for serious record listening though I’m sure… I don’t really care though…
As discussed up thread.
Korg hired the original creator of the Vestax Handy Trax, Toshihide Nakama, to help with the design. Toshi helped Korg with the design, and they acquired the name. Vestax is no longer in business.
The Vestax Handy Trax dates from 2004. ( The Vestax company goes back to 1977. )
The Reloop product is from 2020. ( source )
Do you have other information ?
