Keystep Pro - Program Change Issues?

Hi all,

Is anyone using the Keystep Pro here? I just decided to set my new Keystep Pro Chroma up with my Novation Peak but I’m having issues with Program change here. See picture below track 2 has my Peak assigned to it.
So for program change to work with my Peak I have to set MSB to 2 and then Program change is possible however… once I select MSB the track goes blank no matter what track I choose. Anyone else experiencing this?

KSP OS - 2.5.20

The only way to get my screen back is turning the KSP on/off… anything I’m doing wrong here?
Thanks

I have KSP but not sure about this behavior. I don’t have a Peak to experiment with, but you could also try asking over here in the keystep pro topic as maybe someone is using it with peak already.

Hope you get it sorted. If you’re still having issues later, take a screenshot of the relevant manual info for peak’s program change and I’ll have a gander.

Good luck

Yeah this guy here is doing it with his Summit exactly the same way Iv’e set mine up but I’m getting issues :flushed:

also a quote from online i found about the issue

I’ve struggled with the patch change implementation too - does not seem possible to have just MIDI program changes without bank select.

I can’t seem to get my head around the process for saving in any of my existing patterns either - seems rather convoluted? I also have what seems to be a bug requiring power off/on…
If I follow manual 1.3.2.1, when I get to part where I press Pattern, the display goes blank and the pattern button turns off. I then have to power off to get display back again. Indeed, whenever I’m in the prog change assign menu and hit Pattern, that track’s display turns off and requires a power cycle to turn on again.

I don’t see why I can’t just select the patch I want for the current pattern, save the pattern and that’s the end of it. Wouldn’t that make sense?

I would confirm with arturia if this is a known issue before trying to wrap my head around troubleshooting. The other person’s experience is far too similar to yours for it to be a coincidence, I think.

I had to reach out to arturia support in the past and they got back with me in a day or 2. Frustrating to wait, but better than spending 2 days troubleshooting a software bug, IMO.

When you switch project slots without saving (using the shift project combo) then switch back to the original project the slot is still blank?

You don’t need to use the automation (control) track to send program change? Or you already are?

Yeah it’s still blank even if saved previous on switching the KSP back on. I tried to save to the control center and the patterns are saved however the program changes saved previous are all reset :flushed:
Damn should have got the OXI one mkII
I’ll send Arturia a support ticket.

Got you. Yeah I’d give that a shot and you could try the arturia community but it’s not very active compared to elektronauts.

LMK what happens, hopefully it’s simple and not a broken feature

I have a Keystep Pro Chroma and one of the issues I had with program changes was that it always sends bank select values too. The manual claimed you could set this to off but mine doesn’t allow that. It was a PITA with my Blofeld as I had to keep remembering to do this even though my own patches are all in bank H and I wanted to just stay there and navigate with program changes alone. Every time I forgot I was back in bank A. I did report it along with a couple of bugs I found but got no joy after a bit of to and fro with support. In the end, I just didn’t bother and changed them manually, had to find a workaround for the bugs I discovered too.
Edit: haha seems a quote from me above, never saw that. The blank display thing doesn’t trouble me any more at least.

Haha yeah looks like your quote
I bought it based on this new firmware video they make it look like it’s a breeze but it’s not :flushed:

I don’t see her screen vanish upon program change lol

I use mine all the time - playing four parts of a Korg Wavestate. It doesn’t do program changes anyway unless you set them up manually but it works rather well cos you can make lots of similar-named patches and they just appear next to each other in the patch list. Better still, it carries over patches that are playing when you switch so doing it manually makes a lot of sense for me.
