On my list to learn as well.
Another question please, is there a way I can use the Ipad as a midi controller for Ableton by connecting it via type c to my Mac, or PC desktop?. I remember touchosc but skipped it since it was too complicated, and it relied on creating networks and being wireless.
TouchAble?
How does it work?, Can I plug in an iPad with the app and then use it like some midi controller?. Or do I need to install client servers on the laptop?
This oneās pretty ok, most of them will require an app on the PC.
You can use your iPad as a midi controller for your Mac, not windows though.
Just connect it via usb-c and then open Audio Midi Setup on the Mac and click enable next to the iPad on the audio page.
Then you should be able to see it as a midi device on the Mac.
On the iPad select IAPPA or something like that as a midi device. Thatās the USB midi connection.
I have to confess: I canāt actually remember
After looking at this video I became interested in Botanica genre
Are there any apps like the plug-ins suggested by the video for ipad?
Texturizers, granulators and everything else
the name is bonkers but Iāve stumbled over āKing of FMā and it is a really nice DX7 (2) Synthesizer with a great choice of parameters, small & endless classic presets
itās from the Synth One developer and free.
accidentally seen that itās him by searching for a āNordā pendant on IPad.
itās this one
Intriguing demo, I gave it a try but was a bit underwhelmed. Itās a nice groovebox to toy around and Iām glad that the AUV3 UI is reduced to a single view (Bass, Seq, Mixer or Drums but I wish the stupid keyboard could be hidden). The pattern generator is pretty cool, it feels like more of an algorithm and not much randomness. Had a cool retro jam, I guess thatās the main purpose of this app.
The filter sounds too tame to me and the overall sound misses some dirt which the distortion and overdrive canāt add either. I still prefer my modded MB33, even when leaving resonance boost and FM aside. But yeah I could add some plugins. The sequencer UX is a mess but Iām spoiled with the OXI. The CPU usage is also pretty high, close to the Model D. When I use it as AUv3 with my preferred production audio settings (96khz, 64 frames) it uses around 15% CPU on the M4. Not a problem for studio use but my current live set uses ~45% alone so with this plugin Iām already hitting the upper limit because I want to keep 40% headroom.
I only learned about botanica a few days ago. I laughed at the new genre name but I love the sound. I kind of think NIās Playbox is perfectly suited to this stuff.
Seems perfect, does it work on iPad tho?
Start with AUM as a mixer and then make some kind of fx-chain with these apps:
SoundSaw
BLEASS Granulizer
FieldScaper
Borderlands Granular
Fluss
Silo
rymdigare
OtherDesertCities
Ridgewalk
Samplr
tardigrain
Borderlands and/or Samplr are great starter apps for texture and granularity
Calling iOs experts!
Iām wondering to use my iPad as an end of chain device, with a Volt4 interface and a small selection of hardware gear (DTII, ST and a couple of synths)
My goal is to send all the audio gear through AUM on a pair of channels/stems to monitor and record my home jams.
Iād really love to know your suggestions about the best apps to help me build a mixing-light mastering chain.
So far I put Chow tape model for saturation and Roughrider3 as a compressor but Iāve read about some more apps like the Fabfilter suite and GrandFinale2 but Iām a bit lost as Iām totally new on this side of things
I put Grand Finale 2 on all my tracks.
I also use BlindEQ from Audiothing.
Iād second using Drambo. Itās the closest thing we have to Elektron kit on iOS platform imho.
Drambo is my go to app on iOS platform. I use it religiously the way i use my Digitakt and OctaTrack. As of late i am largely Sample Based and love the flexibility FlexiSampler offers for playing back samples.
I usually have tb reelbus in my master when I jam with AUM.
