iPad Music Apps?

Have you looked at Patterning2 for iPad? Tons of samples available for it.

Thanks, I’ll check it out.

It’s a polyrhythm powerhouse and there are a ton of community contributed samples offered in the app.

Here’s something i made from a few months ago using a mix of cloud and personal samples:

You can either use Patterning 2 as a sequencer or have it sequenced by external gear.

Does it support multisamples?

No. It’s 1 Sample per Track. It has 8 Tracks. Drambo also supports multi samples fwiw.

Hello guys, iPad newbie here. I’m considering an iPad Pro to jam, I have 2 setups in mind and I’d like to know if there could be some issue like latency and stuff:

1- simple portable set-up: oxi one sequencing 4/5 softsynth

2- iPad as a granular synth (I was going to buy a lemondrop for the task, but then I discovered spacecraft, tardigrain and I prefer the sound of this apps) or whatever app I May Need sequenced by the octatrack, audio from iPad to octatrack along with a modular and an analog rytm.

(In an ideal world I would send the audio back in the iPad for recording/basic mixingšŸ˜…)

This option Is where my most concerns are, I’ve tried to Sync ableton and an octatrack in the past with no success/headache.

Thanks in Advance

Welcome to the future iPad club. I use the iPad in all my setups and haven’t really noticed many syncing/timing issues, but I’m not particularly concerned about sync timing with the music i make…but it’s never felt off to me. I don’t do hour long sets so your mileage might be different of course.

Link to Midi is a nice app to use if you want to use Ableton Link with hardware and the iPad as well.

Hi, friend from the other thread.

This setup is very nice, iPad is arguably the best portable sound engine to pair with OXI:
Both battery powered, BLE enabled (works best wired + you get 32 MIDI channels (2 USB MIDI devices)), up to 32 tracks and lots of random and generative tools, well, you know.

Oh I feel you. I had Lemondrop on my basket when I realised how great at granular iPad is:

Borderlands, Quanta, Samplr, FRMS, iDensity, Spacecraft, Tardigrain as you said…

I see you have modular. Why not get ES8 or ES9, amplify to modular level octa and analog rytm, and attenuate to line level from the modular for sends?

This is my current approach and couldn’t be happier. I amplify on the rack acoustic instruments, Norns and a mic, send everything to the iPad (AUM) to mix, route (both digital and physical send/return) and have a very professional final stereo mix (depends on skills ofc

You should be able to sync everything and multitrack REC.

Is anyone here using the ML:2 from Circuit Happy in their modulars?
I havent found much feedback or reviews of it. I was tempted to get the desktop version a while ago but its always out of stock.

This. I’m still a bit reluctant, but I need something to create soundscapes, there are not so many options: lemondrop experience seems very similar to an iPad; I don’t like the gr-1 form factor (I mean, it’s too big for what It does IMHO) and the Iridium Is too big/expensive for me atm. I have limited space and I need portability.

Wow! that’s a great idea. I’m still concerned about latency with an Hybrid setup like this, but I Guess with the right tools I can have a smooth workflow.
I have to study this solution for my particular case, but you def pointed me in the right direction. Thank you for taking the time to give me such detailed explanations (here and the other 3d).

Thank you! If I’ll buy an iPad you’re going to see me often here

Glad is useful!
Just one thing, it’s ok to take line in to ES9 directly and add some gain on digital (iPad). Noise floor is still far IME. Also the other way around, it’s ok to attenuate on digital to line level so you can connect everything directly to ES9 without the need of dedicated hw amp/att. Still, if you have the space, there’re a lot of compact and affordable preamp modules out there that would get the signals some extra headroom.

I’m v pleased with this: 2 hp, x2 line to mod level, x2 Mod > line. cheap and very clean boost / reduction.

Ah great! Do you happen to know if it can fit two of these bad bois?
ES-9 and some Endorphines modules can take them. Really handy.

Sorry, no idea. I don’t see an email on the website, It’s Uwe George’s company (used to work with MFB). Try finding him on Facebook, or ask Schneidersladen - very helpful folks. I bought the CON from them, had a question about the power strip and they got back v quick.

So what do you think of it? Any thoughts? I also had a couple goes with it last night and today. I like the mod matrix style of operators and abundance of LFO’s and envelopes, although it’s possible to pour on too much I think and get lost in all its features.
What’s your experience?

I haven’t had a chance to go too deep. But I did enjoy making this track using the synth

It seems like an excellent addition to my collection in the hour or so I’ve used it

Makes up for not being the US and getting a cheap opsix
