Yeah, all of the Klevgr apps use way too much CPU. Not at all optimized for iOS/iPadOS. Lazy ports from desktop.
I’d love to see Puremagnetik on iOS.

I’ve only run it in AUM with Ruismaker and two sequencers (Octo thing - can’t remember exact name - and fugue machine ). Sound was fine but I didn’t look at CPU
Yes Ting is really good too. Main attraction for me is that while such sounds seem easy to capture for yourself - being almost the most obvious sample fodder a la Casio sk1 - in reality slamming drawers etc tends to generate audio that needs a lot of eqing and compression to be usable, or maybe really careful/varied mic placement, so it doesn’t happen that often in practice…

This thing looks like it could be a dope partner for the OT/DT. Map the MIDI CC to the 8 midi tracks and you have basically half a machinedrum added to the samplers!
Is this actually coming to iPad? @slicetwo
Officially yes, but not positive when. Rumored to be soon. I see it as an incredible addition to something like a digitakt and its midi tracks so I’m patiently waiting.
Yes. That link is for the iPad.
I wish they would hurry up and make that link live, I’ve been clicking it for week or two and keep feeling disappointed to see aparillo lol
Thafknar - https://apps.apple.com/se/app/thafknar-record-and-reverb/id572894725
A convolution reverb that’s simple to use, easy on the CPU and works as a AUv3 for a €3 purchase. For those who don’t know what convolution reverb means, you have to load it up with prerecorded wav files (impulse responses) of spaces to use it. There are loads of incredible free impulses a Google search away - vintage cabinet speakers, spring tanks, tape echoes and acoustic spaces.
You can tweak the reverb response to your liking as well. A great way to add some flavor and break up the ITB sound. Can’t get enough of it.
Tried the Drumcomputer VST demo and there’s lots to like about it - deep synthesis, good interface. but IMO it lacks low-end. For VST drum synths, for low-end and punch; overall presence, I reckon Microtonic from Sonic Charge is still better (best outside Reaktor 6), although much less deep synthesis engine - but unlikely it’ll ever be ported to iOS. Since last Nov sales, apart from Drambo and K-Devices TTAP and WOW, I’m over app acquisition - so many possibilities already - but would probably buy Drumcomputer!
black friday sales are starting.
korg module is $20 and korg often drop their prices.
gr16,poison , pure acid are also cheap (the 303 engine in pure acid is pretty good…the sequencer is a bit quirky but after a short while you can get good results)
i usually check on here.
I was really sceptical at the beginning and the GUI looks really awful, but it is, by far, the best IR loader and convolution reverb in IOS. It’s the only one with true stereo and can also load quad IR‘s
I got this on sale as I’ve been teaching myself some piano recently and thought it might be fun to have access to some more sounds to easily play with, and it is!
Ended up buying the Module Pro IAP which gives you access to split keyboard functionality (nice to have strings on one half and piano on the other for example), and the American D piano (the built in one is OK, but this one is nicer, and beats the Ivory one IMO) and KAPro Orchestral (which I thought sounded great!) soundpacks… so ended up spending quite a lot, haha, but it’s great to play with if you just want to “switch off your brain” and play different sounds, a bit like a grown up Yamama keyboard
I do think the Jazz Piano in CMP Grand Piano (which is the other one I have) sounds a bit nicer, but having the other sounds and splits etc. in Module is really nice.
What is the amazing iPad drum machine/synth? Something with its own sequencer that is not circular, generative and gimmicky.
Stuff I don’t like:
Drambo
Patterning
Electribe
Axon
Stuff I like:
Noir
Skiiid
Patterning 2
Seek beats
Buy Rozetta suite and drive drum machines via that. ( xox sequencer )
The real magic of iOS music / aum is in the midi and audio routing …
New app from audio kit ( piano )
The trailer put me off ( lots of talking and trap music which is f£@king awful ) but it’s probably good
In the email they don’t actually mention what it’s called.( looks like it’s called house : mark 1 )
That soon-to-be-released one from Sugar Bytes looks interesting. And Elastic Drums is worth a look.
Elastic drums + 1
Doesn’t exist IMO. Some do somethings better than others. Some of the drums I’ve been most pleased with, including kicks, is several instances of Fractal Bits sequenced by several instances of Octathron, with most Fractal outs going through Shaper, then some send effects.
I wouldn’t call Axon or Drambo “gimmicky”. You can get some great FM perc out of both. Drambo’s a great sequencer for drums both internal and external.
I prefer Ruis FM (through Shaper) to Noir,
Elastic Drums has a great interface and wild modulation, but I think it just sounds pretty weak - like many iOS lacks low end and punch.
Haven’t tried Skiid or Electribe
Thanks! Gimmicky maybe not the right world but Axon is super-fiddly and this generative sequencer is just an excuse not to program. Patterning is sample-based and I find the sample loading super confusing. Also this circular shape is a bit off-putting to me. Also I have Digitakt for that:) will try Elastic now.
