I’m building a set with OT + Bass Station + iPad +H9 + mixer and compressor. I’m using one AUM project because I don’t want to switch AUM projects mid set. So I’ve settled on three synths: Modal, Spectrum and Aparillo. FX: Dedalus, IK7 Tape Delay, Tone Boosters reverb, Dischord, and Shaper on each synth. After hours testing this combo, no crashes or glitches and all sounds sync tightly enough including when using the synths for percussion hits (iConnectivity Audio4). Max DSP 70%
I tried Effectrix but it caused a few crashes. I might purchase Turnado just because its AUM.
Program change of presets in AUM is instant and stable.
I’m v satisfied with this set up. The three synths all sound very good and provide plenty of flexibility. Apparillo is a really unique FM synth; the arp is radical. I prefer it’s “core” sound to Factory.
I’m interested to hear what combo of apps others are using together with Elektron or other HW.
I highly recommend all of ToneBoosters AUv3s for Fab alternatives. Don’t get me wrong, they sound great, but these TB plugs are ~$7 and they are incredible.
I bought the FF Reverb right before the first TB plug-in was released on iOS…and I never even reach for it. Probably the most expensive iOS effect I’ve bought but oh well. All 4 TB plugs cost me less, actually.
I’m setting up my iPad in my cue effects chain from my octatrack. Think I will be loading up the new Blease delay and reverbs. Using the new AH update as my iPad interface as I can move its spot around in my effects chain easily using the audio setup options in the heat (as long as it stops dropping the USB audio randomly:-( fingers crossed Ollie from elektron can help me out)
Aprilla is cool, very cinematic. Have you tried TS-11? A modular synth with a simply breathtaking interface.
can you put AH’s effect before iOS effects, or use it as a send FX?
for instance:
Samplr (or any other app, inside AUM) > AH effect > AUv3 effects (ie. Reverb, Delay) > AH Output?
I couldn’t quite figure out how (although I admit I didn’t have enough tome to play around with it) but a little hint regarding AH’s config to do this would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone using Mozaic to process midi from the Octatrack / Digi? I’ve read the manual and with no coding experience other than with Midifire, it looks like even I may be able to set up a midi scene processor, initially with scenes for 4 ccs in one instance.
With kind help from the Midi Fire dev Alex, I got midi scenes going, but it is a long process entering each value manually in the code. With the Mozaic interfaces it should be a lot quicker process and possible to receive the value from the relevant OT CC knob.
Hi. I think I have it setup ok. The only thing is I’m not 100% sure on the order of operations. [I’m not sure it’s applying distortion before the delay, sounds like it is, and I’m not sure how you could switch it around if you wanted the delay first than the distortion. Would probably have to get creative with the bus sends…?]
unfortunately it doesn’t seem like it… a good way to check is to swirl the filter rapidly and wait for that frequency swirl to replicate on the delay tails, for example… maybe it’s not possible to do this, but I’ll keep investigating, thanks so much for trying!
They are both more overdrive/saturation than heavy distortion, but you could stack a few in series. They’re high quality and sound fantastic - that’s why I’m recommending them over some of the other heavier options, which often have aliasing problems/digital artifacts.
