Introducing Tonverk

I’m shocked by some of the rude statements people here are making, rude to both Elektron staff, who are real people, and the beta testers who are literally here with us.

That depends on the multi sample, and you can create your own (buggy now but it is a priority for the next update like Elektron said above). You can find multisamples with longer notes or record your own. Elektron are most likely going to sell sound packs.

IMO @Tchu that’s all @Elektron had to come out and say here (goes a long way). Now I’m certain 100% that bugs will be sorted :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:

Ok thanks.
I guess what I’m thinking of is more “loop points” or whatever. (I have very little experience creating my own samples and dealing with setting loop points, I have mostly just used pre-made samples so never had to worry about this before).

Thanks Elektron for quickly addressing the MIDI jitter issue! I’m sure this issue was known leading up to the release, and having an engineering background myself, I’m sure the team was stressed AF about it and unhappy about having to release with such an obvious issue. It happens, I get it: there was probably a set release plan, and pressure to release on time.

I’m not disappointed in my purchase–as an early adopter I knew to expect some issues–but I think would have been in the best everyone to communicate it clearly upfront rather than having early adopters gripe about it. Better to control that damage yourself, frankly!

Either way, it’s a great start overall, and I’m looking to seeing where it goes! Despite a bumpy start, this does not change my view of Elektron as a company or their commitment to their customers.

Mine pops up little crossfade icons like the OT. I have had no problem getting the loops click free.

You can hold a note, just like on the Mellotron…

Thanks for the comms folks. Nice and quick.

So when you multisample an instrument does it automatically create loop points for sustain, or how is this accomplished?
I don’t have a TV, I’m asking because I want to buy one. And I’ve never played a Mellotron.
Thanks

Will this update also address the 20ms latency for audio in and response to MIDI notes?

Good to hear. And your communication is invaluable for us to understand what’s going on.

As of now there is no loop points nor crossfade. Hopefully this will be implemented soon. The sustain is equal to the sample length until fixed.

The single sample has these functions.

Please correct me if I got it won’t :grinning:

I didn’t say anything about the most people and certainly didn’t want to imply that most or even all people are alien to this idea

Let’s put it this way: it’s my take on a simple observation. There’s a track record of half-baked product launches on one hand, and here we talk not only about the current casr. On the other hand, there’s a repeated “I don’t want to be a free beta tester” sentiment.

So it sort of becomes a collective choice, right? Whether or not to support a certain behavior. One could be a supporter and be ok with spending money to help keeping their favorite company floating - it’s fine, I guess. But perhaps, if in absolute numbers a bit more people would go like “nah, this is not how I as a customer want to be treated”, we’d see less frustration regarding new toys

If you hand code your .elmulti file, you can make the multisamples loop (with crossfading and everything). ATM this isnt possible utilizing the onboard autosampler

The way I see it is this is like gaming where they release an early release version. You get it for less cost with the understanding that it’s not fully realized yet. The benefit is typically that you have the product early and the price is lower.

I fully expect the TV to be closer to 2grand in a year. So you buy now and can save hundreds of dollars if you are cool with what it can do today.

For this particular release, I just need the midi jitter fixed and I’ll be able to already get a lot out of it. I use rack samplers so this is a pretty flexible upgrade for me. Much faster and deeper UI with the sequencer and p locks. Etc.

The fact that this machine is in its infancy and is only going to get better makes it a winner for me in the studio. I am very interested in how they tweak it for live performance. I wouldn’t live perform with it yet in public, but it already can be done in a recording context.

Ya dude, any time I have these thoughts, I remember what they did with the silver boxes coming out right before DT2 and DN2.

off topic: future - no flagging of posts anymore but AI rewrites in friendly tone.

The Mellotron plays each key for six seconds, then the tape ends and the sounds stops. On the Tonverk, you can choose how long samples you want, when sampling. So it could play for longer, provided you have longer samples.

games released as alpha / beta / pre release /open beta etc do at least mention it on any publicity.
i’m sure if elektron had done the same, they’d have been seen as innovating in many ways… being honest about the release of a new box … their customers would’ve understood the ‘deal’ that was implicit in that … i cant recall any hardware manufacturer releasing an ‘open beta’ hardware platform.

By this logic, if I want to hold a note or a chord for like 1 min or more, I would have to set an auto sample for this amount time for each note?
