No offence to those involved but none of the factory patterns really grabbed me. They aren’t my style and all sound a bit … busy? Idk. But once you start making your own stuff hopefully you’ll find it’s quite easy to carve out whatever kind of sound you want. Dirtshaper is so damn good I find myself going a bit more crunchy than usual haha

hard to say at this point. I’d imagine the TV to be quite linear, like most modern digital instruments, so what you put in has the most effect on the “perceived fidelity”. However, if the device has a bit of a lowmid scoop, that would automatically translate to a “less muddy” feel, which to some peoples ears might sound more like “mixed music”, if that makes sense…
More impressions as I get them… I’ll connect the TV to my MBA next and will run some tests

My Elektron SD card which was in the box got somehow corrupted. Luckily I backed up everything before I even turned it on. Would really recommend you do this too.
I put everything on a high quality, new card and it’s working fine so far.
but there are some carpets you know…

Might have been the micro-SD adapter that borked the factory card. Those things are notorious…

I feel like the TV box art designers went to see the Gaudi park in Portugal… it has that arabesk mosaic feel to it. Its ok, but nothing too breathtaking IMHO. As musical instrument packaging goes, its a sturdy box, and does its job well enough. At least its not flimsy
I’m into TV and don’t want to come across like a hater, but I do think it’s a fair point that Elektron released 2 shiny new samplers about a year apart that have weird crossover/separation.
I think a better Pizza analogy is if the pizza place offered a pizza with sauce and pepperoni OR a pizza with sauce and cheese, but no standard pepperoni pizza (sauce/cheese/pep).
If you want a standard pep pizza, you gotta buy both and combine them yourself. Not the end of the world but a bit awkward.

I’m about to chuck the included microSD card and put a brand new 256GB full size SD in… Does one need to do any prep for a blank SD card to get it working with TV? Do you need to format it with the device or something? Are there some sort of system files that need to be present on the card?
And guess something more: My MPC sample collections does not work on the TV (Stereo, 44.1 kHz, 24 Bit). TV shows it in the sample browser but can not load them. This is the first groovebox of approx. 10’000 which can not read those… great… will bulk-ffmpeg them in another format.

I formated it exFat, quick format… should work. The Tonverk is not streaming afaik.

there was talk on another thread that samples should be 48k for best compatibility

If you dont copy the .system folder it will create one.

the manual says:
You can upload WAV and AIFF files to Tonverk.
- Supported bit depths: 16 / 24 / 32-bit (floating and fixed point)
- Supported sample rates: 44.1 / 48 / 88.2 / 96 kHz (mono and stereo interleaved)
- Playback is handled at up to 32-bit float, 48 kHz internally
You can store them on the SD card in the User/Samples folder (and subfolders if you like).
Yes, I know… but for some reason, 44.1k files give errors when trying to load at times… needs OS love methinks…
