Introducing Digitone II

What is the chance that we will see an update for DN MK1 with the new VA and filters? Even if it is only 8 voices it should be possible :thinking:

@Snipecatcher?

some of these feature should have been in the orginal anyway! like being able to edit in the same page without having to go through the sequence over and over. anyway, f’ing no chance im getting one at this price. i just got a perfectly used digitone a month ago for Ā£350 and its in mint condition. im writing some super cool stuff. screw version II’s!

Still, I do wish more synth companies took ableism into account with some aspects of design, that always feeds back into better UX for everyone, since there’s a lot of variance in how we’re all built, work and travel through / experience the world.

Are you sure it’s that simple? They are anyway different machines or not at least exactly same. And as far as I remember there are some limits what you can transfer… (Individual patterns was not possible if I am right. Sorry it has been since my last transfer)

maybe they can make some additional revenue by offering A retro color cap set

If individual patterns are not possible, back up and restore at project-level.

Seriously, enjoy your DN! It’s an amazing piece of gear, and the fact that you can get one for 350 is incredible.

However, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the release of the DNII, it’s an improvement in every way imaginable. Nothing wrong with its price either. It’s completely new hardware, includes an expensive DSP that wasn’t in the original, has more than 2x+ the capability overall, and seems to have been executed quite well. Whether or not one needs it is another thing entirely, but IMO it’s kind of silly to make it seem like there’s anything wrong with the new release. If anything it just shows how good the old one still is despite how much improved the newer one is.

So much has been added that I’m a little surprised they kept the Digitone branding.

The EFM16 :smiley:

Here it is. It was just a quick and fun experiment to see if also the new WaveTone machine could do acid (the FM engine already was pretty capable!). Turned out pretty nice and squelchy overall. Suggest to use the sysex receive menu, otherwise it will go into A05 slot.

Fair points but I’m not sure it reaches the level of ā€œconspiracy theoryā€ as you stated.

I know hence my quote.

Oops! Sorry, I misunderstood.
I really love FM synthesis a lot (I also have an M8 for travel). For the most part to me, there are so many different flavors of it. The EFM is great at a lot of things. Drums are crazy good and stacking parts to get massive, evolving pads works well. It’s dominant tone leans kinda ā€˜icy,’ which is neither good nor bad, but that’s kind of its default. The DN2 seems more capable of warmer, softer sounds. I also love the sound of the Twisted Electrons stuff, but that’s a discussion for another thread :slight_smile:
