Introducing Digitone II

Exactly what I was thinking. This truly is the closest instrument to the Monomachine.

I’ve made some of my best music using the DN 1 exclusively. I’m more excited about this box that even the DT 2. The crazy thing is I don’t think I’ll sell off the DN 1, I’d rather add the DN 2 to the family and run them together. The thought of 24 voices of Digitone goodness has me sent!!! :alien:

Do you think there is possible and somehow easy way to transfer old Digitone patterns with sounds to new DN ii?

This might be crucial thing to us having a long history with old DN…

I love my EssenceFM so much. Bought one right as they came out and still love it. Nothing quite like it…Still want the DN2 though

Filtering presets per machine is something to be fixed in the nearest update, I hope. Lack of track cue to headphones is pain again - why Elektron is neglecting this in all the recent machines and loosing the opportunity in all of these sequels ?
Anyway - exciting machine, and saves a lot of time while creating complex beats, where on DN1 the trick with sound locking per trig from the sound pool was the only way.
What worries me is a price drop of DN1… and I consider not selling it at all.

Another trick (on DN1 too) is to use Operators ratio fine tune to fatten the sound and make the most out of your 4 osc per track.

In the end, 16 voices (per step) is a lot and I often have to remove sounds so that it’s more precise.

By the way, has anybody figured how big the (factory) preset library is other than it’s ā€œdiverse and vastā€? Plus drive’s total of 2k is sure nice but actually how many presets are there out of the box? 500ish like og DN? Sorry, couldn’t find it anywhere

Yes. Just back them up with Transfer and then use Transfer again to put them on your new device.

I’m with you on that. Like, there’s no need for the colored buttons any more but they looked cool and made the Digitone instantly recognizable.

I wish they kept at least the white keys.

Still, it’s a nit-pick. But wish it had more color.

My thoughts on a new device is always :

Ā« What can I do with it Ā» instead of Ā« What can’t I do with it Ā».

Well you know what you’re doing wrong now  If you had 8, and each don’t know anything about the state of your accounts at each other’s, you’d be golden!

With 256€/$ on each one of course…(I paid with 4x option so I have 6€ left)

I’ll make my first feature request for DN2: light the four corner buttons in DN colors when the machine boots up.

I’m more impressed with ableton move than digitakt 2 honestly it still lacks things I think should have, but the digitone 2 is looking pretty good with the new machines and features looks better than the DT2 imo and makes having the pair more appealing

Does it have transpose per track in song arranger?

A DNII + Essence would be FM Total Domination TM. Do it!

Interesting. I’m glad the colors are gone. It was very distracting for me. Plus I’m color blind and I tried my hardest to distinguish the back lights - I couldn’t tell if a track was muted or selected. Drove me nuts. So much so I sold it.

I don’t consider myself disabled in any way imaginable, but the lack of distinguishable colors for people like myself made the DN1 unusable
