what does the keys version do that a midi controller cannot do ?
Yes - on audio tracks and midi tracks.
Yes - they trigger the notes (I used midi monitor to see all 16 notes, but there does not seem to be a limit, I did 18 notes and it also worked)
Midi tracks do not use voice allocation (if thatâs what youâre asking)
I did layer a midi track with 3 other audio tracks, and although it lets you do that⌠it did not send the trigs on the midi track to the the other tracks. Still exploring thatâŚ
my syntakt isnât nervous cause it knows i donât know jack squat about actually programming fm percussion sounds. âyou need meâ
Thanks!
Surprising! Good news.
Donât tell Elektron if it is not intended and theyâd want to limit it to 4âŚ
TryâŚ128 notes?
I might buy it next time I am in Europe
Much cheaper than here in Australia
I pinged someone to see if we can confirm how layering with midi tracks is intended to work. As it stands it just ignores the layers (meaning that trigs on the midi track are not sent to the other layered tracks). But if you change the machine of a midi track that has layering to a synth / audio machine then the layers are respected.
Super neat. I want one.
Watch they bring an FM chord machine over haha
Voice layering is still there, I too would be really sad if it werenât
Yeah, itâs just buried behind two menus now. Itâs alot hard to use it as a performance feature on the DN II, but rather as a conpositional tool. Just a heads up b4 we all sell our OG DNâs.
What a great looking machine, never been a better time for somebody new to Elektron to buy a box this Digitone II looks superb.
For somebody like me owning DT1/DT2/ST/DN1 itâs a hard sell, I feel as if I know the machine inside out even though it was only announced yesterday as it just does what a combination of my other machines already does.
The sad thing is when you see a machine like this you know how Elektron operate therefore Syntakt ainât going to get another update even thought itâs only had 2 significant updates and the day I bought it having overdrive on the FX track with 7 blank slots I automatically thought weâd see new effects released, all Syntakt needs is a ARP and a Compressor which Iâd be happy to pay extra for but that will never happen now.
As for Digitone II it looks awesome, Iâm jealous of anybody new to Elektron, your gateway is a great start and for exiting users itâs another new McDonalds burger that tastes the same as all the others.
Ummm⌠a very different synth. The FM parameters they didnât change are because of the need for backwards compatibility (which was handled quite elegantly by the wayâŚ)
Iâd say itâs 4x the synth the original DN was in many respects.
I like the demos on the site. Itâs definitely temptingâŚin fact all of the current digi size boxes are tempting.
I remember when the OG DN was released, there was a lot of complainers about the voice and layer count, really got everything they asked for here.
I never realy had a problem with the original DIgitone. This one is a lot more fleshed out.
These new boxes with 12 - 16 tracks are crazy. It really goes back to the old silver boxes in terms of depth. Itâs weird that it dipped out and got minimal and simple, but now itâs sort of fleshed out and gotten complex again.
You sort of wish they started here but I guess they have to go through the iterative process and employing new tech software and chips to pull it off.
Glad they got there and again, very tempting.
Well it is backwards compatible with Digitone 1 being able to play OG patterns and presets so itâs obviously a Digitone 2 and not a synthmachine
What was chord mode? I missed that in mk1.
Does anyone know if the transposition can keep all the notes in the chosen scale? Like if I transpose a sequence up one semitone, will it adjust the notes to be in the chosen scale, or will it just do a blanket 1 semitone transpose, taking me to another key?
People in certain countries often forget they are represent probably 15% to 20% of the worldâs population (that stat is according to chatgpt).
Donât worry the DT1 definitely sounds warmer than DT2
Congratulations to everyone at Elektron who worked on this awesome machine and thank you for maintaining this forum.
