Introducing Digitone II

ahahah, that might be the case for most of us here, the pace is getting HIGH and we are not used to that speed!

I think I’ll sell the car, just has to do it quick no thinking go

When I saw the step-sequencer on rec + stop, I got paranoid that Elektron got into my « Fantasy Elektron feature ideas » notes.
I was missing my old DN, now I know what my next synth is.

Not if you’ve done any serious A4 programming. It’s an analog modular in a box.

That said, I’m sure mine will be jealous of the 16 tracks!

Guess I just gotta get them both eventually then

no, Digitone new Wavetone and Swarmer machines are vitual analog as i understand

Oh no, Elekton killed the funky button colors and yellow nostalgic screen from old day yamaha synths. What a blasphemy! Loved that hint of nostalgic mustiness.

Analog Four is…an analog synth.

White is IN. Yellow is OUT! :frowning:

I hope none of the screens display lines / have issues that have impacted digitakt 2, Syntakt etc. I’m slightly anxious every time I turn them on.

FYI - Transfer has been updated too … it’s dn2 ready .

Just noticed this discrepancy between the Digitone II’s product page and the manual about midi polyphony:

  • product page says “16 note polyphony per step”

  • manual, p 17, says “each of the 16 tracks can be used as a midi track. Each midi track can trigger a chord of up to 4 notes.”

Any chance the 4 note thing is a holdover from the Digitakt manual?

They moved the bottom screw!

i like the sounds she comes up with. different context. she does awesome squidgy bug sounds. her perspective is appreciated compared to what other demo videos will highlight. :space_invader: :+1: :+1:

Nice performance - and sick controller! Nah - i hold on currently - if i get a good price for my DN1, i may fall for it - but i will just put on DN1 again, and play it with ST, also 16 channels.

The video gives me a idea - why cant the DN send record start and stop CC to the DT sampling - ?

I am really afraid this could be the case here.
Please let it not be true…

Quick question regarding track layering ( nice addition )

If I’m sequencing on track 1 with 2,3 ‘layered’

Do they inherit parameter locks , trig conditions etc from track 1 pattern
Eg delay send on track 1 would also send the track 2&3 to delay ?

Are you discussing FM (Frequency Modulation)?

The M8 has the following-

Instruments and Effects
• Wavsynth engine for classic console & computer chip emulation.
• Macrosynth engine - Over 40 synthesis types based on Mutable Instruments
Braids
• Sample Playback engine - 8/16-bit mono or stereo wav files. Streamed from
SD - No memory/length limitation.
• FM Synth engine - Unique 4-op 12-algorithm FM synthesis with feedback per
op.
• Hypersynth - 6 note stereo chord synthesizer

Both the Digitakt 2 and Digitone 2 will have some overlap in functionality, beyond very different sequencing methods, UI etc.

You may be able to do some things on the M8 that you can do with the others.
Each will have its own sound that the others can’t do exactly.

Whether it will extend what you have will depend on what you want to do further

Which is really an abstract question BUT I don’t know you so it’ll require some additional discussion of what you want to do different or simultaneous to the M8’s grooves.

oh god, they got Sarah Belle on board?!

ugh. alright take my money Elektron, it was never mine to begin with.

I think “plummet” was the word you’re looking for
