Introducing Digitone II

No problem. I am somewhat new to the M8, but wanted to get a multitimbral synth to sequence with it and thought the Digitone II might hit that. It is them both being FX engines that make me worry about the overlap. Previously, I was considering the Nymphes and MegaFM (also FM). I had hesitated on the Digitakt II as samples are of lesser interest in the M8 than the sequencing and making noises, but I thought perhaps the Digitakt II might do enough more with samples to make it more interesting.

Well… very much unlike Shania Twain, this does impress me much! Congratulations to all at Elektron for another fantastic instrument!

When the DT2 came out, I was unsure if it was worth the upgrade from my DT1 but decided to take the chance and realised that what I thought was quite a modest upgrade was a really great one, and I’m thinking the upgrade to DN2 looks to be much more significant… I’ve not even watched anything except the announcement video and the ā€˜at a glance’ video, I’m sure by the end of it I’ll be even more enamoured.

Not in a rush to upgrade as I’ve got a few projects to finish before I could dig into it, plus I do need to rusky up some pennies. Sorry Ableton, your Move looks all kinds of ace but you’ve been gazumped…

Hi,
Can we import projects ( sequence and sounds) from digitone 1 to 2 ?

Listening to the Substan tracks on the Digitone og i have to say that its not the gear but how you use it. His tracks sound better than what ive heard so far on the new shiny model.

Would be interesting if we can emulate the piano sound with an dtII and a sample from DT1….sequenced by DT2 and triggles trigs + combfilter…but for that we need comb+ on DT2 i guess…morph morph morph

DN1 I mean

Gotta please the investors.

DNll looks cool, but slide trigs etc would have been nice. Also i’d prefer elektron to bugfix the other machines first instead of pumping out ll’s

Wait until he plays tracks on the new shiny model.

Looks nice, but I’ll wait for the bug thread and Overbridge!

yo Jus imagined …. If the new synths were added to mk1 my moustache would fall off …. I’m too attached to mk1 to sell …. :coffee: So that’s cool as I can wait for a few bug fixes to pass first…. its got my attention :flying_saucer:

Two maybe dumb qs I couldn’t answer by reading the manual:

  1. do trigs on MIDI tracks count as voices used? hope not but the implementation of MIDI tracks is different from DN1 so…

  2. no MIDI arp per se but what if you use an arp on a synth track and layer it with a MIDI track…?

No, there would be 16 voices available to the total remaining Audio tracks

good question !!

I don’t think you can layer a midi track but I’ll check.

Would be awesome if that worked! Can’t wait for mine

Can you elaborate on this? I’m not sure what you mean.

If you want a multimbral synth, the DN series are excellent.

You will need to commit to wanting to sample and use the DT as its own instrument to be happy with it. Not a problem, but if you’re on the fence about it, figure out what you want most.

doesn’t seem like it does but would sure be awesome if it could
