Introducing Digitone II

Digitone II is the best synth Elektron has released since Monomachine in my opinion.

they will sell a lot of units, there is nothing on the market to compete with Digitone 2

good point, although for me Syntakt is an old concept re-packaged in a Digi-format

Or rather:?

Guess it is:

Really difficult for me to not just say ā€œf*** itā€ and sell an A4, Digitone, and RYTM that I have just sitting around for this…

I own the OG DT + OG DN. I thought I wanted the DT2 when it came out, but now with this, maybe I am wrong but this seems like a better upgrade for me. I already could make songs with only the OG DT. But it was not so easy with the OG DN only. Now it is more than possible with 16 tracks.

I agree, too early. I suffer from cognitive dissonance sine PREP MUTES were not releases with 1.30.

DN2 sounding like a serious drone symth

Keep the A4 at least

Very nice, this in one of the reasons I prefer MC-707 to Elektrons for polyphonic stuff (the other is actual polyphony, which on DN2 is also quite respectable).

Yes that one sounds great. Awesome demos in that playlist.

-My AK literally arrived today
-Just got a ST update I’ve barely dug into
I’ll revisit this in 6 months maybe

I am up for collecting superfluous AR and A4 - never enough :hugs:

I know, I could make a case for any of them, and I won’t be making any rash decisions just yet, but something would need to go before I get anything else.

I’m not sure another Elektron is what I need, but 16 tracks of synthesis sounds pretty damn enticing…

I always read the manual before buying an electronic device.

Looking forward to an analog 6 or 8.

They have done the hard thing and built the platform around the new DSP. Now they reap what they sow. It would be stupid not to upgrade the entire hardware line. It will be hard to sell existing models without steep discounts.

do it!

I wonder if I just can buy a software upgrade? :grimacing::smiley:

Don’t feed them those kind of ideas 🫨:grimacing::shushing_face:

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. I haven’t felt any pressing need to upgrade my OG DT. But the DNII will open things up to an incredible degree. Going from 4 tracks to 16 is huge. The rest of the update is just gravy to me.

I could see being pretty happy with just a OG DT and DNII. Might even sell the Syntakt to help cover upgrade costs. Not really sure why I would keep it at this point.
