Introducing Digitone II

You can use the Inputs of the ST and DT II. They have a separate Track in OB.

Yeah I know, I could also use two stereo cables for that. I was just curious if there already was a way to send out tracks selectively without hard panning L/R. Anyways, thanks you two for crushing that hope so I don’t have to worry about it . Let’s hope OB isn’t too far away!

Not sure about MIDI Fighter (is it usb only?) but if it inspires you: my next plan is to set a couple of my faders (or maybe xy joystick) to modulation and breath control CC channels, and thanks to macros, i’ll be able to control up to 4 patameters with a single fader/joystick axis with custom ranges per parameter. I’m just a bit too distracted with new exciting stuff @monitus added (arpeggio note probability!!!) on Deluge community firmware nightly  (i think i never even once installed a ā€œreleaseā€ cfw on my delly, let alone ā€œofficialā€ firmware ahah)

I have a confession to make:

I was pretty high the other night experimenting with the DN2, having a good time, not focusing too intently. The following evening, upon getting home from work, and not high, I grabbed the box to fiddle around and decompress. I turned it on and hit play to see where I’d left off. What I heard was amazing; a beautiful, lush chord progression and clever melody. I thought to myself, ā€œMan, I really crushed it last night. This is good!ā€ Upon further inspection, it turned out I was listening to @LyingDalai’s preset pattern (B02 I believe).

I either need to get high more often or not get high less often…

I’ve come back to my machines with surprise patches, patterns, tunes before.

Being in a certain state of mind when making them, then having a day or more of normal life tasks, then being in another state of mind when going back in.

Sometimes induced, sometimes just the way the week went.

They were my creations though when I got back to them

I’m telling you man: It’s all from bad gateways.

Well, they normally do, but after the ā€œchangeā€ number of pattern in the FUNC+PAGE menu of Length per track is on.

As i realy like the noise oscilators of the new synth machines, i made an attempt to create some sea shore.

I’d considered the DN1 for a long time but was always a little unsure I could make it sound good. Somehow the new one is both deeper and more approachable.

My DN2 arrived today, and I’m sure it’ll keep me busy for a long time…

I just started playing with the FM Drum machine tonight, and agree! It’s incredibly fun!! I could see myself doing full tunes just with it.

You could do the old way : solo track 1 > rec and so on but tedious , I prefer to wait for overbridge :joy:

Finally, Elektron didn’t change anything about how the encoders are placed, so that my felt cover still fits DN II .

Edit: played with it for around an hour. I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but it’s still a Digitone . Although I can already tell I quite like Wavetone. The workflow seems more intuitive than I’d have expected. I haven’t done much sound design, but the four pages of synth parameters don’t bother me that much. Will have to see whether this has a place in my setup or not.

Edit 2: alright, as soon as you start to go beyond eight tracks, it starts to shine as a groovebox / idea generation tool.

Edit 3: working mostly with Wavetone, it reminds me how I often use my Syntakt with SY toy waves. But I miss the FX block and analog tracks. So far it’s easier for me to give tracks that oomph on ST, even without a comoressor. It’s pretty nice to have polyphony though, the cutoffs on ST often annoy me, as I like long releases even on leads and basses. I also really like how easy it has become to load and save patches now that it’s just two button presses instead of three, sounds stupid but makes a difference.

All your sounds would benefit from some filter action going on
