People who give no f*cks about anything except what makes them happy -> make exceptional and inspiring music despite any silly constructs like “limitations”
which is why the stuff you do with these boxes makes me so happy.
Hi all, I’m new to this forum.
Very curious about the DN2…but I have a few questions before taking the plunge.
Hopefully I can find answers here
I think @boorch may have answered this a few posts up, but I am wondering about connecting my Midi Fighter Twister to the DN2, and then assigning various parameters to the knobs on that - would that be possible?
As far as I can tell from some cursory enquiries, the 8 knobs can only modulate the given param on that track (but this was in reference to the OG DN, so maybe it’s different with version 2?)
If I could connect my MFT to the DNII, then, in theory, I could modulate shitloads of parameters.
Is that a thing? Midi learn?
Look forward to hearing back from you all.
More questions to follow…
Strange indeed. Basic feature for an arp. Probably my No1 feature request…
Would be an huge time saver for me, as I have to record notes on different trigs, extend their duration, add probability…
Thanks @sezare56 - appreciate your fast response(s)
That’s curious, that there’s no random option in the arp section
Do the Elektron bods hang out here? Is there a chance that they read these threads and consider feature requests? Or is it exclusively a place for gear users?
Just arrived yesterday. I started trying out the less Digitone 1-ish stuff first like Wavetone and Drum machines. Quite nice! Perfect additions to the Digitone to widen the palette a bit. Can’t wait to properly dig into this.
I found that the Wavetone could also make some really nice kind of rumbling taiko type drums with the ring modulator and some envelope mods. No surprise really, but it sounds really nice! I like it better than the DualVCO machines on the ST and AR for RM/Linear FM type sounds. It’s a little more controllable IMO.
Definitely need to dig into the FM Drum more. I did notice some of those nice sidebands when LFOs are in use.
We’d surely be “productive” “songwriters” if we endlessly scrolled through whatever royalty-free Garageband loops, but what a dull life.
Elektron mods are not staff, staff may lurk but more helpfully / socially and not really as an “on the clock” obligation.
There are “feature request” megathreads moreso to keep the forums tidy of littered multiples of the same. I do not believe Elektron consider those actively, they serve more of a “wishlists are fun to make” function or the opportunity for the community to advise on how to do something you want that may be possible within existing featureset.
Emailing your requests doesn’t guarantee response, but significantly more likely to get counted by whatever product manager and aggregated with similar requests to prioritize specific improvements. Posts on this or any other forum shouldn’t be expected to be psychically absorbed into design
So some of the factory patterns refuse to change to the next pattern when I ask for it. I have to stop and start again. Is this normal? I can imagine what might be causing it but it seems odd for factory content.
Goddamnit, I found a B-Stock for 900€. Now let’s see how far I can push it into „I‘m doing all my future tracks on this“ territory within the 30 days return window. There’s a few tracks on there that either have all the melodics or all the drums I need, let’s see if I can finish them on DN 2. Just couldn’t resist, despite all of my rationalizations why I don’t need or want it.
Right. There also could be some tracks that are running at half speed, but if I’m not on them, I’ll see the page indicators wrap around, but no change happens.
“Caved” may not be the right word. With DT2, it was pretty clear on investigation that I didn’t need to upgrade. But with DN2, the positives just kept piling up. I sat down and made a list of all the improvements, and it was quite convincing. At a month after release, it is the fastest I have ever bought a standalone device (I preordered one module, which was a big mistake, it was sold quickly). I don’t tend to jump in quickly but I just ran out of reasons to delay further. There may be a modest amount of retail therapy at work here.
