Introducing Digitone II

Check everything carefully. I had at least 2 faulty B-Stock units (PO33 and K. McMillen K-Board). I stopped buying B-Stock.

And sometimes they sell B-Stock as new, so I think you have more chances to have problems with an official B-Stock.

Thanks, so far I have bought a dozen or so b-stocks and all is good  I always buy my gear second hand too. Cheers for the heads up though. I see not every b-stock is the same :frowning: Would be nice if Thomann would keep high standards and check well what they sell…

Have also bought my share of b-stock. Never had a problem. Mostly form Sweetwater tho. I think they keep pretty high quality standards.

I wonder though why Thomann sometimes has a different price for b-stcoks of the same article. Do they judge by the amount of the wear unit had? or is it that they want to sell it off faster from their stock? hard to tell… sorry for offtpic

Probably both factors can come into play.

They can’t check everything.
Imagine if someone receive a faulty unit and don’t want to wait for a repair : it is faster to send it back and buy another one elsewhere > faulty B-stock.

Price difference is not huge. I usually prefer to buy second hand, it is cheaper. Couldn’t wait for Digitone 2 !

Anyway I hope your unit will be perfect !

There’s a joke where a guy goes to a roadside seller who has all the same kind of item for sale on his table, a little statue of an cherubic angel.

The guy starts looking at the prices and some are marked 5 but others are marked 10.

Guy says: ā€œwhy are some of these marked 5 and others marked 10? they’re all the same.ā€

seller says: ā€œsome men like to pay 5, others like to pay 10.ā€

Got mine with the 15% off coupon that was advertised here. I couldn’t resist the DNII with 15% off.

In reality, sometimes it comes down to condition, sometimes it comes down to cost of the transaction which resulted in B-stock. Occasionally, depending on the reason for return, sellers might collect some reimbursement from a distributor or manufacturer but then still have an imperfect item available.

Different sellers tend to have different policies on B-stock and also different ways of handling inventory discrepancies. Might even come down to things like peeled screensavers and damaged boxes, who knows really.

If it’s thomann they probably have a pretty consistent standard for what is considered B stock, but maybe a good idea to contact them about the specific item when there’s a concern.

I’ve had the opposite experience buying B-Stock on occasion getting what appear to be brand new items. I’ve struggled to find what was B about some gear

Well I talked Sweetwater into giving me a 15% discount on a DTII and a DNII. I’m in for it now. Should arrive tomorrow. Had to sell my DN and ST to afford it but I have a RYTM to cover a few of the machines that I’ll lose there. Very excited about the new features of the DNII and can’t wait to started getting weird with it. Do we have a tips and tricks thread here somewhere?

The factory presets vary quite a lot in volume. I understand they were done by many people, and probably under deadline, but it makes auditioning them fraught. The piano is impressive, but for me the standout is the cello preset, especially considering how simple it is (like the piano, essentially noise into a comb filter with a suitable transient, no body, and a touch of modulation).

These words somehow seem familiar :see_no_evil:. Unfortunately, I won’t have time for it this weekend. But there will be weeks ahead :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:.
