Where are the people asking for fm machines on digitakt 2
It’s a conspiracy for FORCE everyone to buy a new machine … all the boxes are black and square so they must all be able to run the same firmware :joy:.
If it’s a new box I hope there’s something ā€˜actually new’ rather than more lfo / voices / same delay , reverb , chorus that we’ve had for many years.

I’ve got enough fm ( inc digitone ) …have fun everyone.

It could be a pair of Flippers. Good for deep oceanic diving.

There were a few years (5?) between the launch of the DN and the launch of the ST, so I’d guess the ST is safe for a few more years.

I feel the painsure

Actually , that would be the best thing ever ! (fm and samples in one box.)

Having a device do both actually has consequences on usability if you think about it. That said if you could just do basic real proper quality FM on samples that would be very useful and interesting. And high-quality AM which they haven’t done since the MD.

Hang on, what’s this leak business? Is it DN II or Tonverk that leaked?

the DT and DN were both released in 2017, while the ST came out in 2022. it’s quite young, by comparison. but you make a good point, primarily about the step length making people think a new device is upcoming.

So it was Digitone 2 after all… with 16 voice polyphony and 16 tracks it feels more like this is Digitone 1.0 and the old one was just a beta version… Now you can call it a groovebox.

This and a second, assignable pair of outputs are the biggest missed opportunities of DT and DN II imo. I think I’d be fine with just a DN II, but then I’d need these features to make up for it not being knobby and OB not having FX on individual tracks and Ableton apparently only offering 15 audio tracks over USB. Lots of great improvements nonetheless, but the improved track count is only worth so much when you have to feed it all through two cables and only have eight encoders.

Finally got around to install my new set of buttons for my Digitone. I guess after today I probably would not have bothered to ever. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wonder if there’ll be one last update for the old one, like it was with Digitakt, where they added machines… Doubtful, but still…

i think anything with polyphony in an elektron box is incredible. so much power. but i really hope they enhanced/added to the synth engine. different synth machines/types would be rgeat but i would prefer if they werent as dinky as the st. i like the fleshed out a4/dn style synths. and if they were even deeper, id be in heaven

did DT1 get the page loops/euclidean/trigs preview etc?

Yeah I know. I also think ST is perfectly fine with what it offers and has always been a weird Frankenstein from the start. With Elektron’s main selling point being their sequencer and ST significantly behind now on that front, I suspect they’ll either bring ST II in about six months or never at all. If the all in one synth groovebox is what you’re looking for, you can now just get DN II. If you wanna have analog, you have to accept less steps and conditions.
