Ok maybe a question someone can answer who familiar with elektron sequencers…
Can the track playback speed be altered to extend one track. I know the tracks are 64 steps only but can you half the playback speed to extend the track to 128/256 but still only be using the 64 steps.
So say a chord sequence or triggering a longer 8 bar sample on another sampler via midi.
Basically can you adjust the play rate of the tracks (if not the sample track then I really hope the midi ones can, that would make this much more powerful)
So is sampling synth at c3 the best bet to use chromatically? Good overview thanks.
another little detail:
There probably is no velocity/aftertouch mod mapping like in AR. Personally I don’t use it that much, since it just takes time to set up… just an observation.
Also, really wondering about swing. Is swing shown in any of the demo vids?
edit: like, I know that it won’t have parameter slides - slides on AR etc work the same way as swing, mute, and accent in terms of storage and UI. So, if there’s no slides, there maybe is no accent, mute, and swing…? anyway no dedicated buttons.
But, while playing with it there was a pattern which had swinging hihats… could be micro timings, or maybe the swing is kind of hard coded to offbeat 16ths…

In lieu of traditional track swing I’m hoping users can hold several steps and micro shift them simultaneously…
Only workaround I can think of with the info we have but seems a little odd.
Perhaps with off grid realtime the swing is not so much of an issue.
I personally always shifted notes with the OT, rather than use swing, that way you could really control time, push and pull on a single track.
Anyway, the DT will help produce steaming beats and that’s all I care about!

I would be absolutely shocked if the box didn’t have swing. It may be a more simplified version where only odd 16ths are swung and you only have a % amount, but a drum machine with no swing would would be

A whole series I reckon, not just a synth version. How else would they release ‘more products than we will ever believe’, it has taken them months on end just to get this single product out!

it depends, the chromatic play seams to be just relative, not absolute. Its possible to tune the recorded sample, but there is no built in tuner that tells you “now the sample is exactly on C3” or any other note.

as far as i know, this is not possible. You can only change, how many steps each track has individually. Tempo is stored globally for the whole pattern.
how likely do you think the DT will respond to program changes for pattern changes via another elektron box??
this is my deal breaker.
The individual time scale per track is one of my favorite parts of the OT sequencer and wish they would bring it over to the analog series

So what I was asking is what key is the sample mapped to? If it’s middle c then the easy button is to only ever sample that note and boom, always mapped properly. Does that make sense? That’s how it works on the es2 and this seems like a million times better replacement for that, minus the scales mode I guess.
Hence my hope that Elektron implement an Ableton style Tuner device - so we can locate where our sample is in harmonic space - after all no one is expecting the DT is playing in isolation - and everything is so much more lovely
when our drums are tune with everything else…
Well it would seem obvious they would have that so you could change the patterns from the octatrack for example.
