I preordered, but I really want/need the DT to respond to pattern changes/program changes so I can perform in MnM’s song mode and have the DT respond to the same patterns i’m triggering.
Yeah, I would like to buy the MPC Live later for polyphonic melodic stuff and would also like the DT to respond to pattern changes in the MPC’s sequence/song mode.

it is a amazing peace of a sampler. shame that is mono.

but I can’t understand why you can import only mono samples.
it is digital… you know… I think it is only because you need less space
on the disk… I love mono drums… but the posibilty to using
recorded synths, ambiences or what ever would be better in stereo
if they already contain stereo FX like chorus, delay or whatever.

Stereo seems to be reserved for Octatrack.
Is this just an imposed restriction to make people buy the octotrack? No reason it shouldn’t be able to play back stereo samples being a digital sampler. Not like it would replace the octatrack anyway because it is so limited RAM wise with only 64mb…
Modulus (1:3, etc) was shown by Cenk in sonic state video.
It is the exact same implementation as A4/AR

It’s not the opinion you have about the DT that is bending people out of shape.
It’s the “beating the dead horse” manner in which you continue to voice it. The cyclical nature of your posting in a single thread about a single subject is grading to many forum members.
No one has posted more in this thread than you and the vast majority of those posts are bashing, or knee jerk retorts or just saying the same thing you’ve already said 10 posts up but with an emoji to curb the repetition.
It is wearing many of us out.

That is what Elektron has been doing for a long time. There is no midi sequencing in Analog Four, no sampling in Analog Rytm etc.
Elektron seems to be so confident in their position in the market that they intentionally leave features out, instead of including all the features that people want.

I was at superbooth an could lay my hands on the digitakt, here are my impressions:
–great haptics, display and lamps, good built quailty
– filter and Overdrive sound real phat, impressive for a digital device. You also have a nice Bit Reduction
– the mastertrack wasnt revealed yet, i didnt see a compressor or symmetrie distortion like in the AR
– You can change the effects (filter, Overdrive, Delay, Reverb) of all tracks at once, when you press the track key
– recording samples and laying them on a track is easier than on a octatrack
– data structure has no Projects hierarchiy anymore, You save and load patterns. There is no key for loading or changing Kits.
– The pattern structure and possibility to chain them was not built in yet. The small button with the 3 dots on the left under the screen has no use yet, will be added for the final firmware
– the sampler has no timestretch mode, so you cant sync loops that are recorded in different tempos like on the octatrck
– its also not possible to record a loop and chop it automatically in 16th notes, for this type of thing, youll need an octatrack
– you can make one recording and then destille several samples with different start and end out of it. Samples can be recorded form the audio in (L/R), usb and master out (resampling).
– sampling is only in mono (stereo is summed), but you can use the two inputs to connect 2 different sources
– samples can be played chromatically, but there is no automated tune recognition of the digitakt for the sample to get a starting point for chromatic play. So you have to tune the original samples manually.
– you can change (parameterlock) the start, end, length and looppoint of the sample. When you just take a tiny fragment and loop it, it plays like a wavetable synthesizer (change the start with lfo). This is great!
– all trig conditions etc. are also avaiable for the external midi out – this is something no other Elektron device can do yet. External MIDI support wasnt demonstrated, but is said to play up to 4 notes per track.
– each track can have its individual lenght, so endles polyrhythms are possible
– USB-Audio supports USB 2, so enough bandwith for all 8 audiotracks
– the encoders were a bit nervous, this will be fixed in the final firmware
so what I like:
sound, haptics, handling, chromatic sample play
what I miss:
velocity and pressure sensitive pads, automatic sample tune recognition, resampling of single tracks (which i think is not possible), stereo sampling, timestretching, master effects with compressor, eq etc.
what i hope for:
flawless overbridge recognition, low latency drivers
how does it fit to the dark trinity?
if you wanna control other synthesizers with trig conditions and parameter locks, digitakt is the only thing that can do it. Its also easier to handle than the octatrack, so when you have difficulties with the octatrack to do simple things, this might help. But Octatrack is still king of looping, slicing and x-fading. rytm is better for performance, as it has pressure sensitive rubberpads and a performance mode – and of course analog synth engines. the digitakt has no synth- or drum- engines at all. everything is based on samples. but the rytm cannot sample by itself and its a hassle to transfer samples with the rytm. This will be much easier via usb on the digitakt. So yeah, it sticks to the dna of its family, has some overlapping with the rytm and octatrack, but can also do some new tricks.

Perpetuating this ridiculous fallacy is getting tediously boring … it is quite literally fake news, Elektron don’t work that way, they’ve said as much, but your narrative goes on and on and it perpetuates this crazy idea/myth that Elektron have a monopoly of your money … if they leave a feature out, they may as well be directing you to a competitor, how does that fit your narrative … !
Is it so difficult for you to accept that they may want to make things to fit a restricted feature set because they realise that it makes an instrument more focussed, also why can’t they make a product line which doesn’t overlap too much across products … it’s good for the owners of their gear, nothing becomes obviously obsolete
This “it must be left out so as to make you buy our product x” nonsense is no more worthy of repeating than any other crazy conspiracy theory
If they included all the features everyone wanted wouldn’t that generate sales if that was their sole focus … ! … but judging by all the features everyone wants it would also be a dog’s dinner of a product … less is very much more
