Is there a good usb condenser microphone you could use with DT
How would you intend on connecting this?
Directly.
The USB port canāt be used in that fashion. Itās USB MIDI and audio class-compliant but itās not a host nor does it provide power.
Anybody order from Perfect Circuit and actually get a shipping.notification? I ordered 8 minutes after the preorder went live and theyāre saying end of may. WTH!
When I called them to check up on my order they said that it was actually a pre-order.
They told me the bit that said āIn stock and ready to shipā on the listing was just āa bugāā¦
they told me the same thing, but you have to keep checking with them because Iāve bought stuff that was on pre-order and picked it up and it never went off of pre-order
Transfer definitely will be converting anything that doesnāt already match the internal bit depth and sample rate of the device. How much that contributes to the transfer speed I donāt know.
Ah, thatās disappointing, but thanks for sharing the info. And welcome! I too got an āin stock and ready to shipā message from them in my receipt.
I remember when the Syntakt first came out, a bunch of US folks had theirs get stuck in some kind of customs slowdown in the Netherlands.
Transfer uses MIDI to transmit data, just as C6 did, so thatās the speed limit youāre dealing with. Not great.
Mabye THATS what Tonverk is! A new library and transfer system for the new generation boxes? But lets continue that speculations herre:slight_smile: Elektron Tonverk Trademark Speculations
Edit: @waftlord already suggested https://www.elektronauts.com/t/elektron-tonverk-trademark-speculations/209265/156
Most condenser microphones require +48V phantom power, which the Digitakt does not provide, as its inputs are primarily designed to handle line level, but no high impedance signals from mics or instruments (electric guitar/bass), etc.
Get a small mixer or a mic pre-amp with phantom power and youāre good to go.
mixer
Edit: DT does not provide +48V
Which is why I asked for some kind of official response or statement from Elektron on the topic. On the original Digitakt, I can test right now I get speeds between 0.60-0.65MiB/s. The Digitakt II is 0.30-0.35MiBs. Why is the newer device considerably slower?
I donāt have the DT1 any longer so wasnāt able to compare speeds, but just watched a youtube vid of Transfer in action on DT1 - as you say, DT1 is ~0.65 MiB/s vs my DT2ās ~0.39 MiB/s. No idea why thereās such a difference.
Got mine yesterday and am stoked by how much of an improvement this box is. I was slightly worried the master overdrive would be a bit too tame or not sound that good but it is great. It sounds like itās a kind of universal overdrive across the compressor and the master OD, as in if you crank the volume on the compressor, it doesnāt just get louder + clip as it did on mk1 but seems to limit and apply the overdrive ā¦or it sounds very similar at least. Either way, itās nice to have the flexibility create a mix across the two, especially when you factor in the option to remove tracks from the compressor⦠imagine being able to remove them from the master overdrive as well
One improvement that I think is new and I havenāt seen mentioned is that single cycle samples now loop when previewing them. I donāt know if this just applies to the factory ones as havenāt loaded any of my own yet, but itās a really great usability improvement.
I think thatās normal, itās showing that itās loading the audio into the RAM⦠it takes longer now cos thereās more audio to load.
Somethingās not right - report it as a bug?
Itās in the bug reports thread and been mentioned a few times since reveal, though who knows if it is bugged. Itās also one of the stickier points from Captain Pikantās review so I think there is definitely awareness on it, just no comment. Iāve kind of learned when there isnāt a comment or something is ignored it is what it is - nothing to be said.
Canāt hurt to put in a support ticket though. You actually have the units side-by-side to make the case.
