naah the distortion circuits, filters and freq pan still make the AHFX stand out. also my main use of envelope followers is setting them to modulate the pitch of a synth. not possible on the AHFX, since it doesn’t generate sounds. on DT2 you could set it to modulate tuning and generate funky melodies this way.
any more info on this?
Hold FUNC while tweaking Sample Start auto zooms in on wave. Is that now possible? Makes so much sense.
copped from Schneiders Laden
I don’t make an extensive use of the filter as a master effect and I always use the first three distorsion effects. I mainly use the enveloppe follower to modulate srr amount or delay time, so in my case, it could replace AH+FX.
Now with 16 audio tracks, they could have at least made say tracks 13-16 as a polyphonic option, I don’t get why some companies are obsessed with purposely limiting its devices to monophonic tracks, what year are we in again? Rolands grooveboxes in the 90’s had a good number of voices to play with.
they are, ordered a sub from them one time.
delay time is no mod destination on the DT2 though, no?
Yes, I was giving an example of a synth which supports both usb power/data over one wire, and a power brick at the same time.
It’s just that Elektron boxes mostly run on 12V, which cannot be provided by a Type-B connector.
- Type-B uses regular USB power, which is only 5V.
- Type-C supports USB Power Delivery (PD) and that has profiles up to 48V.
The only drawback is that the USB-PB spec was changed from 12V to 15V in its first revision - so support for 12V is uncommon.
But if you were designing a box with USB-PD support, you would account for that.
It would be easier if the Elektron boxes could run off the standard 15V for USB-PD, rather than 12V.
But it’s still far more convenient to use the same Type-C connector as every other new device to power it, rather than a custom PD trigger cable.
The Digitakt is still not for me but the underlying hardware & software changes are really exciting.
You know what I’m thinking.
Sounds real good!
A cracking shop in Glasgow too. Well worth doing business with them.
Thanks mate! I trust Schneidersladen, just placed an order! Thanks again, and thanks to @Glasside too!
So I noticed at the end of the Cukoo video that he says the Digitakt II is actually “the soft launch of elektron’s new tech platform”. He says basically that the programming has become more modern and cpu efficient to allow the hardware to grow in power by leaps and bounds. He also says that Elektron plans to release new machines entirely based on this new platform. Surprised there’s not a thread blowing up about this.
No sadly but with a midi processor such as the Blokas, it’s alright !
Well, it’s common sense?
Everyone could have thought of that
Rust dev hiring, mucho more power under the hood? I don’t think its rocket sience to come up with that thoughts.
I checked the manual this morning. Very sad to see that euclidean parameters are not cc available
But in addition to this you still should’ve have 12 volt barrel connector and power brick (OR separate USB-C port with capable power supply) if you want to connect your Digi to a computer, as I bet your computer’s USB will not support PD so it will not power up Digi if you want to transfer some samples…
DT II looks nice (i’ve been begging for 128 steps and page + arrow navigation, trig save is awesome) but i cannot get over it why they didn’t make it true polyphonic. I just cannot…
