Only reasons imho: faster workflow, overbridge and to invest in a future platform, but at 1k an used octamk2 is way ahead digitakt2.
Good thing is that in their mind with this upgrade octa is obsolete and they will likely release a new flagship.

If you donāt use live resampling or scenes or use it as fx mixer that much its simple.
It shows itās age.
Push needs a computer for the most part - so for sure theyād go with USB-C. Digitakt is standalone so having USB-C is not a big deal. Elektron will not redesign the power system of the new Digi to make it able to work with USB-C as it needs Power Delivery feature to built-in and some power infrastructure redesign. It is much easier to buy PD cable and power it from power bank. I mean why would Elektron spend a fortune to redesign power system if end user can easily buy 10 euro cable and power the unitā¦

Same thing happened to me - I was able to show them a screenshot of it being āIn Stockā as I ordered.
I just spoke to someone there and the guy said that many people ordered at the same time, so it was still being showed as in stock, but actually wasnāt and just hadnāt updated.
May 9 is when they said theyād next likely have them.

How do you know it would cost a fortune? What is R&D? Sooner or later it is going to change so this is just a question of how long you want to drag it out. One of the most common questions for the modern devices is what people use to power via powerbank. That shows a pretty big interest IMO. Safer to have a proven option from the manufacturer than a 3rd party.

Besides engineers there are marketologists that decide what feature needs more attention and how much it will cost to add or modify a feature. Looks like it was not a big deal since there is no problem for people to buy the cable. If powering the unit would be so problematic - Iām sure theyād pay very big attention to it.

16 audio tracks instead of 8. Way better when using single cycle waves, DTII has now portamento and 10 octaves to play with, a proper subtractive signal path with more effects.
Euclidean sequencer, page loops that allows 8 independent different 16 steps pattern per track.
3 LFOs with audio rate modulations, more parameters and everything p-lockable.
The performance kit is a very elegant solution that combines simplicity of the kit management of Digitrinity with flexibility of parts from OT.
Honestly, the only things where OT is still better are the crossfader, the midi tracks that have the arp and 3 LFOs and the live sampling abilities. But I guess we could see live sampling machine Ć la machinedrum in the future.

Thatās the point of the opinion - to bring it into the discussion and sphere of awareness for future product iterations. My comment is there to contribute to the attention, and there will be more comments like it as time goes on. Saying it doesnāt need to exist because you personally donāt see a need for it doesnāt invalidate it

I ordered the second it was on thomann. I managed to extract from the Thomann support rep that they only had 42 pieces in stockā¦ thatās insane. Maybe punishment from Elektronā¦ But since Elektron site was DDOSed yesterday it was impossible to order one, otherwise I would gladly pay the higher price to Elektron. Now Iām just waiting for scalpers to appear on Reverb with 2k DT IIās. They need to find a way to mitigate this imo.
Just received an email from Thomann as I asked for written confirmation. Apparently they will be in stock only May 17th for meā¦ some people are saying 9th and some people got their order confirmed even though I confirmed they ordered after me. So for anyone, Thomann is not first comes first go definitely.

I agree with you! I just explain why they didnāt do it on DT2. In their next device Iād like to have a replaceable battery and USB-C port to power and charge the unit and separate data port.
Also Turnlab say they have them ready to ship in 1-3 days
