well, I think they can’t guarantee that the repair won’t fail again.
if they could, wouldn’t they only put the good screens in their boxes from the beginning?
I hope…

I had problems with mine, one of the track leds stopped working after a month of use. After some diggng found a few other complaining about the same thing, so is not just the screens
Thankfully zero issues on my side. But it has 3 year warranty anyway so I’d buy with confidence. It’s my favourite Elektron box so I highly recommend it. With few updates it will only get better too.
I think it was a batch of defective screens that has since been identified. And of course, as it’s costly to repair, Elektron acted to end this mess. But it seemed there are stills screens from the poor batch in the wild. And as it’s not immediate to spot, some still surface here and there.
As always, people with problem will report it most likely than people with none, so it can seem like it’s a widespread problem.
the QC issues are very dangerous…, can cause significative damage to a brand like Elektron…
and it is not the first time there are these QC issues
I hope they can solve it in a timely manner - I read somewhere that Analogs are affected too
I don’t know how long it generally takes for them to produce a Digitakt II unit, how long of a time span it is until it arrives at customers homes, and when exactly they started producing the final product.
But the rise of the white screen problems started almost a year ago with the Syntakt, if I remember right. That was before the Digi2 was announced. Maybe they already produced a lot of the Digi2s around that time (together with other of their devices that have this white screen) that are still in the store shelves.
I don’t know, I’m guessing here since there is no statement from Elektron about it. Only thing I remember is, that they are insured and the screen suppliers owned up to it.
What I would like to know is, if they are still producing with possibly faulty screens.
It seems like it’s not be the biggest deal, when it happens. They send you a ticket and it gets back within ~two weeks.
Still this makes me hesitate. I guess I’ll wait a little longer. I don’t want to get into a situation of playing live and this happens. But it seems you could still somehow see what’s happening on the glitchy screen
i think the screen issue is rare, i ve bought my digitakt 2 in may and it’s rocking hard since.
the transfer app is slow but not buggy ( i never send huge libraries that i won’t use anyway).
Firmware wise it’s stable but 1 or 2 quality updates is needed ( mono sampling and manual slicing ).
it’s sounds fantastic in stereo
Of course not but I’ve tried two different computers both running different versions of macOS and it’s not been a nice experience. My laptop won’t even let me click the ‘transfer’ tab without it crashing on me.
Actually, I think it’s the first time there are THESE quality control issue.
I had access to early units and they hadn’t such problem. So I can only guess that QC doesn’t solve everything. There are always some problems that slip between the fingers in mass production.
Citations are helpful.
Well i remember there was the Rytm pad issues that affected a lot of units
Is that not a QC issue?
Well Someone mentioned it here
Seems you might be right. Report on facebook of a failure again after a repair.
I bought an analog 4 mk2 on July 20 and had to return it on August 5 because I had a screen problem with lines.
Elektron repaired it and I received it on August 25.
the screen worked fine but this evening I have the problem again!
Have you ever had the same problem following a repair?
EDIT: Also reported here.
The exception doesn’t make the rule. It’s impossible to have a QC of 100%.
that‘s how rumours are created. i though you were talking screens of recently produced Analog A4s and Analog Rytms.
I meant it was different QC issues, that have been addressed since.
I mentioned 2 further examples of QC issues as it was said that Digitakt II screen issue was the first QC issue Elektron ever had, which is not true
By the way my comment was positive
Let’s not argue with phantoms here
With all the buzz around the Move, instead of giving in to the GAS, I’ve decided to dive into the gear I already have, which is really more than I need tbh!
