Photos of modded (E25) hybrids

I love my E25 but also remember there were several photos of different digis around that had some black keys/encoders from regular digis and vice versa. It might be worth compiling them here for inspiration, so please post your hybrids here!

You might also post photos of other hybrids, like for example the OTs with colorful DN buttons that recently made the rounds.

I like the colour arrangement of the 16, but the numbers would do my head in

If you put them upside down you won’t read them.

Did you strip the colour from the [FUNC] button?

No, it’s OT pale shade of grey.

Here’s the other side of the coin:

Thanks for contributing yours, @Leonsarmiento ! I really like both of these, though I prefer a DN with color. It’s clever what you did with the keyboard, but don’t the LEDs already do that trick? Is it A4 keys? I also think the wrong numbers would trip me over when working with the trig view mode.

Elektronauts, give us more photos!

BUMPEDY-BUMP!

Not a Digi, but I swapped the knobs on my MicroFreak so that I don’t keep accidentally twisting the Type knob. Works a treat.

Nice, found the ultimate comparison for E25 by @Cuubar :

That Syntakt after swapping looks like a baby mk1.

E25 blacked out are a beauty. They should have shipped them like that.

This one was my favorite. It’s like a mini Machinedrum.

I think the regular Digitone looks best with all-black keys too.

And don’t forget the Heat MKII.

To me, both versions look so much more beautiful than the originals. Once again, if money was no concern, I’d love to have a second Syntakt, the E25 version, and swap them like that.

Nothing swapped, just blacked out my OT resides next to colorless DN e25 from above. Audio quality is obviously slightly improved since the black treatment, at an estimated sample rate of 45,7 kHz at 27 bit now.

I really like this DN! Which leads me to @Jeanne’s answer: I really like the E25 look and am interested in replacing my DT with a DT II. But it’s really hard for me to go back to the all black boxes, I just hate how dark and unfun DT II looks. Which gets me thinking if I could swap some grey elements between an E25 ST and some black ones from a DT II to the ST.

How hard is it to get encoders off? I know it’s easy with the buttons.

Omg, it didn’t even occur to me that it does work in that direction. DTII has just two more buttons (a quadratic FX and a wide TRK [and BANK is now SONG and doesn’t do BANK]), and those have no different sizes than others. So it is totally freakin’ doable. But since Elektron seem to not sell the e25 Buttons, one had to get ahold of two E25s … or leave FX and SONG in black for less confusion

So I‘m really thinking hard about doing this DN E25 mod to my ST E25.

What makes me hesitate is that the design needs to works both ways so that I can spice up my black DT II. Does anyone happen to have a photo of a black DT (OG or II) with white/grey encoders and trigs from E25 but the rest of the buttons (most left and upper row) left in black? Or can quickly work up a photoshop? Would be really thankful!

Well here we go. My own version of this is not as sleek. DT II having five buttons on the left makes it a bit harder to delineate the upper and lower section, but I‘d say it’s fine overall. I prefer the standard E25 ST but think DT II is improved enough that it’s worth it.

I think that if you swap those 2 on the left of the trig keys, ptn and bank, back to their normal color it will look better and feel more natural, just my opinion though. The trigs and encoders look good to me.
