Introducing Analog Heat +FX

This was always my main gripe with it, surprised they didn’t address it with an Os update at some point, especially with the mk2 and +fx

I just got the AH+FX and I can’t speak on what folks are upset about here but I do get why people think it feels unfinished a bit. The UI is a bit less intuitive than my mk2 was (especially with preset browsing and mod matrix stuff) and I quite like having the FX there but I can’t say I’m completely in love with some of the choices.

For instance, the saturator delay should really have the overdrive parameter like in A4 and tonverk, yet it does not. The chorus has no predelay setting (again in contrast to A4) and there’s no way to send chorus and delay to the reverb, which the new digis and A4 both do. The ability to swap out an unused fx machine for something like a comb filter or chrono pitch or the filterbank from tonverk would be welcome. Also the ability to choose some kind of effect that isn’t elsewhere represented in elektron gear would be cool, as it is only the bass focus really counts (besides the heat aspect, which is of course excellent). I really don’t mind building bespoke effects in A4 or Tonverk but a lot of the tools that allow that don’t really exist here, so at first try it feels a little less awesome than it is in those other pieces and I find the modulation and heat less straightforward than in the mk2 because of the UI changes to fit everything else.

Basically I just don’t really get why some other elektron gear has better implementations of these exact same fx than this unit does and I hope they eventually can sort that out and make the UI a little less clunky.

either that or the flow page could host a second page with 8 new slots and fx, definitely needs more pitched algos like you said.

it would be cool to not rely so much on the menu encoder, yes/no for scrolling the pages would be fine but all in all it needs love, that’s for sure :balloon:

The tape effect is the only thing that makes me wonder if the unit is completely maxed out given what’s under the hood, since they still haven’t fixed the noticeable latency between dry and wet on that effect. As it stands I can only use a blend of dry and wet if the signal has no fast transients. All the reviewers at the time were like “this is annoying, but it’ll be patched, right?” I haven’t been holding my breath - no expectations other than what was released at the time. And what’s there I love! (But a 1.10 would look real nice on bootup…)

I don’t have the +fx but you are referring to the warble effect right? The “latency” is built in to the effect because it’s a modulated delay line. People had the same complaints about the Chase Bliss Genloss pedal for the same reason. There is no way to have a dry/wet blend in that type of effect that doesn’t have the delay.

I don’t think so, it could be limited to hold 8 slots max but the amount of fx sitting in the machine if not used are barely touching the cpu or whatever ^^

it’s exactly what i thought with a modular system, master filter, drive, eq. straight from the oscillators into the heat, that’s a lot of fun :sparkles: it’s really nice, the chorus is a bit meh but I have high hopes that Elektron will do them justice and put all of their fx knowledge into this thing, just because it’s unique as is but could be legendary 🫰🏼

So close…

Actually, closest to sequenced FX box is the Monomachine. :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

def. Tonverk! the +fx would really benefit by having the TV fx in its free form manner :sparkles:

Tonverk is embedded system with latency, and nothing yet has proven this latency can be eliminated. At least AHfx is running bare metal.
