I just canā€™t wait to see what the stickers look like

You can test this on DT as it will be the same comp on the AHFX probably. Itā€™s not true peak brick wall limiter fast, but not every limiter is like that. But the cool thing with AHFX is that you can set the heat block after the comp to take care of peaks that go through.
I would not substitute it for something like the izotope maximiser. But even if a brick wall limiter was added Iā€™d still use a plugin like that simply because itā€™s a specialised tool and very transparent.

just checking does the AH have 1 inputs via overbridge or can you use the 2 expression inputs in overbridge as well?

The control in is only for modulating the parameters of the AH. not for incoming audio(at least not to pass thru.

too bad! thanks for clearing it up

Just a random thought but the Gateā€™s range parameter gets it pretty close to the function of an expander

Nice job!!!

Too bad i couldnā€™t attend SB this year, wouldā€™ve loved to fiddle around with the new and improved AH+ (amongst things)

Now with just a little bit of earthly luck and some manifestationā€¦

Iā€™ll be tuning in and talking to the universe about me needing one asap (and a few more, SY, OT, DTā€¦)

Thank you for listening to our silly requestsšŸ¤˜Elektron

I canā€™t afford this ATM, but Iā€™m so glad it has a gate. Everything should have a gate. Most underrated channel strip/fx feature of all. My OT wants a gate.

After watching more demos this thing is starting to reel me in :totes:

I wish they could isolate distortion, eq, filterā€¦circuits in the FLOW. (analog routing switches)
Would have been wilderā€¦

Yes, interesting. Should be possible, with env follower modā€¦

And I also guess compressor should behave as DTā€™s; Side chain off on DT to compare ? Not sure about it, as there is the SC filterā€¦

Not really needed. A gate in itself is kind of an expander in a sense (some gates are pretty much full expanders like the neutron gate) But because of the range parameter you can change the output level in stead of being total silence. Only thing missing is an attack parameter. Think it can result in some interesting unexpected rhythms  (and adding the env follower to the range parameter might also be interesting though yeah! )

Regarding the comp: yeah SC should be off on DT to compare. thereā€™s no external side chain signal option on the AHFX but a comp of course uses the input signal to analyze (so in a sense that is the sidechain signal) The sidechain filter is applied to that input signal which it analyzes. (I might be stating the complete obvious here by the way  )

Thatā€™s what I was thinking about with env mod to use gate as an expander. AH+ has a release parameterā€¦

I used Finalizer Plus 3 band expander recently, really interestingā€¦not easy to master.

Really miss the sound of the filters on the Heat, sadly I donā€™t have the money or setup space for it now.

So I was wondering, how close can I get to the ā€œanalog filterā€ sound with VSTs, and which ones should I take a listen to, specifically? Whatā€™s the best DSP filter you can get in 2023?

I missed the announcement (was stuck in a weird yoga position on Venus), but this looks really cool. Great update to the Heat. Being able to reorder FX is going to save me some re-cabling time and speed up experimentalization when working outside of the box. I like most of Elektronā€™s FX (assuming these are the same or similar), and I really like their reverb, so I think this new device will tickle my potato chips just fine.

if you didnā€™t have a chance to try FabFilter Volcano, get it for a trail. itā€™s nuts.

Yeah indeed!
Or if you want something simple and cheaper its little sister/brother is called Fabfilter Simplon. Very nice filter.

Iā€™m warming to this a little, but not sure I would upgrade the Heat mk2 for this. Iā€™ve recently gone back to DAW for lots of areas within my studio workflow and there are tons of far more capable effects software that can run rings around this new box - itā€™s part of the reason I sold my Eventide H90. I realised that for me, thereā€™s no need to be DAWless for the sake of it. In my experience, it just made things more convoluted.
