Introducing Analog Heat +FX

It just miss a digital oscilator and it’s a synth

Yes, I would second this point.

exactly, it’s a monosynth minus oscillator. plus a plethora of effects.

This on the main insert of my SiX is tempting!

Either way, I ordered one from SW. Apparently they arrive on the 17th of May.

Good for you, keep us posted on how your OT gets along with it!

But a MK2 Heat costs £800 new, so by that measure it’s a fucking steal, surely?

Inflation’s a bitch.

The problem with the AH is you pay for 8 analog distortion and you use 1 or 2.

I had a mk1 and eventually sold it as I just wasn’t using it that much (and had a lot of other distortion pedals). I’m not sure this is any more tempting for me, I guess if you played live? If it had a few more inputs and could act as a mixer I could make a case for it….a mixer with these fx would be very useful. I kinda feel like my Syntakt (with audio in through fx) killed my gas for this.

This thing sold out already?

I know that’s totally off topic, so back to the AH+FX:
Does anyone know if the reverb on this is similar/the same as the Digi boxes? I quite like the verb on DT/DN

Got my two MKII Heats 6 months ago and have been enjoying them daily since. I’m determined to not let any GAS spoil my fun with my Heats.

But you can switch presets easily, and it’s pretty cool to be able to change the color from one song or part of song to another.

I like this one a lot, it’s very hands on and begs to be played. A basic techno beat or a drone can go pretty far with this, way further than with AH2.

I like having one screen for FX send/wet level. But in the end I think I’ll use some Digi tracks to tweak my 8 most used parameters at the same time.

Having 3 LFOs is really nice to get some movement.

It will be interesting to hear how the effects (delay & reverb) differ than the ones on current devices. Will they be the same as what’s in the Syntakt?

I was sort of hoping that they would be on the more extreme end, as all of the distortion circuits on the AH are pretty nuts.

I’m kind of with you there. On the Analog Drive, which is a guitar pedal, those 8 flavors make a lot more sense. In fact, that’s been my go-to guitar dirt box for years because of its versatility.

But I just don’t imagine I would use more than a couple of models on the Heat for my own electronic music. But then, I’m not Trent Reznor, so maybe others use the varied distortions on the Heat more liberally.

It’s the same as with FX: you will not use all the FX at the same time. When I look for dirt, I won’t switch the reverb on.
When I want ambient magic I’ll leave Bits off.
This box lets you reach a wide palette of colours, you don’t have to melt all of them at the same time
There are many ways to adapt the fx chain to your needs, while keeping things simple. And plenty of modulations to keep it alive.

Excellent

I’m listening to the audio examples on elektrons site and it seems like a very nice and non-annoying modular fx setup in a singular box with easy to load presets.

Dammit. I want it :grinning:

I really like how the FX can be rearranged on the fly and turned off/on no matter where they fall in the chain. That’s a lot of rewiring in a hardware petal board that is just impossible to recreate at that speed.
