I like the current one! Looks great on the keycaps too.
“Mods disliked that” in an image is pretty unfair.
First, it was just me.
Secondly, this was my message:
I am a bit annoyed at your avatar.
In one hand, it holds your name and it’s a funny reappropriation.
In the other, it’s a tobacco brand and I feel there’s something wrong kind of advertising such a brand here (not saying it is your purpose of course). What do you think of this?
Anyway, thanks for choosing to drop it.
This company is known for its very shady operations.
Truly apologize @LyingDalai, I was trying to do the exact opposite of taking a jab, even stating I agree with the opinion. Just providing the reason for the change with a little bit of humor.
Oh, sorry, I understood this wrong then. My bad.
I don’t know how this works, but I too changed my avatar. Finally.
This one represents me better and is a promo shot taken for our movie Loops Of Doom.
Hooray, now it’s finally only @closencounters with that kind of avatar and nobody is confused
!
I wanted to make a big change in my life and changed my avatar.
Please don’t be scared by the evil look. I’m actually very friendly. But the tripped out appearance matches my real persona 100%. ![]()
Dr.Keletor.
been hankering to return to an old favorite profile pic of mine, the orangutan with sunglasses rules
I don’t know who you people are anymore.
It’s funny how much more we connect with a picture than a name. Makes sense though.
A lot of…
It even works without really knowing what the avatar picture actually is. Lots of users on here I can recognise from the avatar when quickly scrolling past, but if I stop and zoom in I realise the picture is nothing like what I thought it was.
I struggle when some users change avatars as I associate my memory of their post history more with the avatar than the name. It’s like the avatar is a memory anchor for the username and the post history but there’s still some separation in how it’s all stored. Change the avatar and the username and post history starts to drift apart.
If the username is sufficiently pictorial, I don’t have as much of a problem.
@Scot_Solida that tiny painting is massive.
This is why i never understood people leaving just the letters as their avatar. You have many same ones using same letter. There is a difference in shade of color but stil… I guess there is anonymity reasons or something.
Avatar almost is like a person “face”, their personality we make associations with.
I might as well have woken to find that the sky is green.
I’m too old for this amount of change.
I always intended to add an avatar, but I’m coming up to seven years as a member of the forum and somehow have never gotten around to it.
It could be something to do with using the forum on my phone exclusively, somehow making an avatar feels like a desktop PC kind of exercise, at least to me.
I dunno, maybe it protects my ego a little, not hiding behind the plain letter for anonymity, but rather for some thought of, well, if I my posts go unnoticed and unremarked, what else should this little old dusky pink ‘S’ expect?
I feel you. Maybe I just come from old school forums where avatar was a must.
