So the trigs just trigger the sample - there is no gate length like on the Rytm? If you wanted to play a sample shorter than it’s duration do you plock it’s volume when you want it to stop? What do you do?
There’s a LEN on the [SRC] page, and ATK, HOLD and REL on the [AMP] page.

Achievement unlocked! Successfully used a pickup machine for some live looping of some one handed mono synth noodlerie. That’s a lot of fun!

Alright one more question (for now)… I just sample two octaves of “Da Bass” and put in all my slices. How do I save the sample with the slices so I can use it later and retain the tedious slice markers?
Oh oh, “error out of memory” how do I correct this and bring my other samples back online?
Audio editor, save sample settings.
Clear the recordings for each buffer. Cant remember how to do it, its muscle memory, I think if you’re looking at the recorder buffer list from a flex track hit func+play on each buffer.
I tried that and it didn’t save. I could save the file, but it didn’t save the slices. I changed my memory options back to 16s and my samples came back online, but no slices saved.

If you slice first, is that adding slices to the record buffer, such that if you record a new sample, it’ll be “pre-sliced”?

It does exactly that for me.
Sample.
Slice.
Turn off.
Turn on.
Sample buffer empty but slices are there.
Yep only works on recorder buffers

I noticed something also:
Sample into a REC buffer.
Slice.
Change parameters on multiple slices (rate for example).
Turn off.
Turn on.
Slices are there (without the sample, normal).
Parameters changed on slices are kept 
That opens a lot of possibilities and happy accidents when you sample again in the same REC buffer or load a sample in the REC buffer.

you save those settings to the slot list, not to the sample itself…
like, you saved all the chops to the cold metal slab that †he flesh lies on,
but NOT the flesh itself, right?
so you can switch samples out of the slot but the slices remain, yes?

I believe so 
I am no expert AT ALL with OT so what I found out was due to user error, ie not saving the content of REC buffer, turning off and on the unit to find out my sample had gone from the REC buffer. But all the slices and parameters’ changes had been kept.

Yes.
Power cycling will wipe your rec buffers, for sure.
Im no expert either, only coming up on 2 years with Octa.
Slices will remain in place until cleared through the AED page.

seriously though,
that slot list lesson was a HUGE one for me.
you alter the space that the sample goes into, not the raw sample…
until you resample it …and save it and reassign it…
