Hello, my Hydrasynth arrived today

...

(Saw PWM sounds very weird on the Opsix, but on the Hydrasynth like the real deal!)

Waiting for some kicks.

Be sure to update to the latest V2 firmware and get the V2 factory banks installed over the legacy ones it may come with.

Also check out the BladeTitles preset.

Which Hydra version did you get?

These first two clips you’ve posted are already massive, sounds like you’re getting the hang of it quickly.

Thank you! It’s the Desktop version since it’s the smallest and I don’t want to play Scriabin on it

Some chord rotation noodling from the weekend with V2.

Accordiony one playing around with rotation + gliss, trills become these ultra fast arpeggios:

Shimmery organ one, this chord rotation repeats once every 78 notes:

Next time someone complains “it sounds thin” I’m sending them here

There are literally filters with “Fat” in the name.

You can have drive on filter , drive on pre fx and drive post fx if you want !!! ;)))

I really love the filters and the virtual analogue aspect. It does indeed sound fat. I also like the effects.

The only thing that bugs me so far is that every single wave shape - apart from the basic ones - sounds meh. There’s not one where I’d think “oh, I have to do something with that”. On the Digitakt, I can’t do much with wavetables, but choose ones that are inspiring, like from the Piston.

More random sh_t from scratch …

Hmm, do I want??? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d love an update with user wavetables. Have you tried the Warp Mutant to modify wave shape ? It can shift the wave on 8 positions, each warp point can be modulated.

I can hear you seemed to find a way to increase pitch range for kicks. Did you use several matrix slots, or with a macro ?

I think from the videos I heard them talk about the waveforms, they are I think mostly chosen for unique frequency spectrums so you can WaveScan between unique combinations.

Yeah, me too, but it seems like it’s a clear “no” from them? I just played around with ASM. Somewhat it feesl completely random which Waveshape I’d choose if it ends up as something completely else anyway :stuck_out_tongue: … half of them sound like https://youtu.be/5SSau4i_VI8?t=52 wahahahahahaaaa …

In the first one I’ve used three matrix slots, in the second one the filter’s resonance  Didn’t look into macros at all yet …

As soon as you start adding mutants into the mix it starts diverging rapidly from the original.

Honestly sound design on the Hydrasynth with so many options it often ends up like the Flaming Homer:

All I know is fire made it good.

What about Wavescan ?
With 2.0 the 8 wave shapes can be randomized.
Make it for osc 1 and 2, modulate one with the other with fm mutant and / or ring modulator…:loopy:
(Macro to modulate wavescan 1 and 2)

Makes me feel better about owning 2 Hydrasynths. Smug, almost. M83 (whom I’ve seen live with a shedload of synths) taking 6 Hydrasynths on tour.
