Hydrasynth from ASM

Can be assigned to a macro ?

Update done. :loopy:
I had to reboot Windows, HS Updater wasn’t recognizing the HS via USB.
(I used HS Manager before, and HS was seen as USB device, not from HS Updater).

Windows was stuck during reboot (black screen). Hard reboot.

Let’s play HS now !
Good bye…

Are you using a USB Hub?

What i want know is where the heck did the space for three more banks of storage suddenly come from ?

No. At first I tried without boot mode (Power on + ArpOn + Latch).

This is fantastic, thanks for sharing. Working in software I empathise a lot with what he says!

still no transpose on a latch arp?
any way of doing that?

or way to add your own phrases?

Individual patches aren’t big but they probably left some conservative room in case they needed other payloads in firmware updates, that’s what I’d do.

I’ve looked carefully through the patch data file binaries. You’d be surprised all the stuff that is in there. But obviously storage internal on the HS is packed and a lot less.

The storage grew when they expanded the LFO Step Tables to 64 steps. Even the 2.0 upgrade expanded the storage per patch. Plus then more.

I was picturing pushing people into subway cars, with two cars at the back of the train empty.

They also could have improved packing and compression of the data to make more room.

If it’s disk speed that is the issue and not compute you can dedupe and compress and they said they improved write times.

That’s a strong indicator that they added/improved patch compression. The storage is dang slow (at least compared to patch size), so compression correlates well with both improvements.

Here’s another video covering the new features in 2.0 by Daniel Fisher of Sweetwater. Largely covers the same ground as the ASM videos, but with a few additional interesting examples:

Aww man now he’s doing those surprised YouTube thumbnail faces?’ I’m a fan of his videos!

I think loopop will be my favorite for never making a thumbnail in that style!

At least Fisher never informs me that I have the option to like and subscribe.

Maybe because you say shit like that!

This is exactly why I did not click on that video.

So I saw PVA last night. The vocal / synth guy was rocking a hydra and getting absolutely monstrous arp bass out of it. I came away thinking I’d quite fancy a desktop to go with my explorer. Anyone else have both? The deluxe footprint is deffo too big for me.

I got a DT first, then I got an Explorer. I slightly miss losing the CV mod ins on the E (which you would gain), but now I wish the DT had the E’s pitch and mod strips. Thumbs up apart from that tho.
This is the two in combination, though I’ve now had a pedal cull and the two HS’s fit together on the lower shelf: https://youtu.be/UcnNYALXIeE

Nice. so that’s an explorer at the top? And did i read that you can connect them up to be sort of one instrument?

Yup. I’d check the asm website specifications page but I’m pretty sure you can polychain 2 for 16 voice megasynth effect.
