H4MIDI WC USB Host MIDI Interface

Interesting. Allows a hub to be connected and 8 class complient midi devices in/out. And traditional midi 2 in 2 out.

Anyone have any history of CME kit?

Good price for early birds.

Good price considering what i paid for a basic standalone usb host.

I had an Xkey MIDI keyboard years ago and it was okay but didn’t like the USB connector. They seem to be more focused on Bluetooth WIDI stuff now and that’s probably a good thing.

Personally I wouldn’t get hyped by the “limited first run” introductory price razzle-dazzle nonsense because the regular price is compelling enough as it is. Time is on our side. Better to see how it does out in the wild and give them a chance to iterate the design if necessary, which they will.

Looks very much like the iConnectMIDI stuff, which can also be expanded via a USB hub. This is a lot smaller though.

I actually just got the U6MIDI Pro couple days ago and it’s great. It doesn’t have the host that this one does, but the routing and filtering is awesome for me and my weird Jupiter X that responds to every midi channel. Now I can trigger 2 or more different synths independently. I will definitely be getting this one too when it is stocked again to have that and the USB host so I can use my NI M32 controller with my DTII

How is the filtering and mapping software? Easy to use? Flexible?

Extremely easy to use, updates the firmware automatically right when you plug it in to PC. I needed something for DT2 midi out to 3 different devices, while filtering out other midi channels different per output. It does exactly that for me. You don’t have to have it hooked to PC either afterwards if you are dawless. It can save 3 preset configs you make on the device and you can toggle through them with no PC.

This thing sounds great. I preordered from the next batch. Thanks for the feedback.

Seriously considering this as it’s approximately 10% of the weight of my iconnectivity usb hub, and significantly smaller.

Any other users want to chime in on reliability, ease of use etc?

It hasn’t shipped yet - it was originally supposed to in Sept but has been delayed twice into November last we were told.

Looks interesting.

I have a short but positive history with CME. I just bought this Bluetooth MIDI adaptor from them:

So far, it’s worked smoothly. I’m using it to connect an Arturia KeyLab mkII to Ableton Note and Koala on iOS. Latency is low enough to not be noticeable while noodling around.

I haven’t tried any serious recording though.

I just preordered one of these. As of today, they think they will ship to me (in the US) Dec 15.

They have announced a similar product without the USB midi host capability with a similar general availability timeline.

Curious if anyone here has received their H4MIDI from the second batch preorder?

I ordered May 29th and haven’t received yet. No update emails either.

Woah, you should reach out to them. You definitely should’ve received yours by now… When I preordered mine in mid November they were projecting that it would arrive around December 14th, and now when I check their site it looks like the H4midi is available in their shop (no longer a preorder item).

I preordered Nov 11 with a target of Dec 15 and it says “processing” on my account. I am curious but probably won’t reach out for a week or two.

But if you email support they are very good about getting back quickly.

I’ve pinged them again. If it was more than 50 bucks I’d be starting to get pissed off.
