Gibson killed Cakewalk

Wow, one of the DAWs that hast been around for Like ever…got killed by Gibson.

Gibson’s CEO is literally insane. And not in a good way.

These are perfectly viable products and it would seem to me there would be other companies/investors interested. Gibson is just throwing money away by not selling this off.

Too bad Kickstarter doesn’t fund buy-outs.

Gibson has been doing this for years – Kalamazoo Michigan as for example.

What happened in K-Zoo? You from Michigan?, I’m from Grand Rapids…
Gibson also bought out Trace Elliot years ago and they stopped making handmade amps in their small shop in England, closed the factory and assimilated… :disappointed_relieved:

Sounds like Electronic Arts…they assimilate independent dev Teams and milk and suck all the life Out of them. Lately BioWare…or Criterion Games…now they try to milk gamers with Micro transactions in Star Wars Battlefront 2…

Didnt knew that Gibson has become such a giant.

neither did I… it just makes it funnier when so called guitar snobs obsess over Gibson guitars.

Maybe they were cool when Jimmy Page and Slash were rockin em, but times have changed…

Yeah, I probably should have said, continue to obsess…

Y’all know they also own the company that make the yellow coned studio monitors that EVERYONE has!

I dont, i switched recently from Adam to JBL…Hope least one is not owned by Gibson too…

damn, I have a Steinberger Spirit and was considering getting a Synapse… might have to rethink that one!

Nope you’re good… just KRK

That’s like all those inMusic brands. Akai, Alesis, M-Audio… They’ve all become so boring (if they weren’t boring already). NuMark… I now understand why my NuMark turntable is so mediocre. I didn’t realize that Gibson was the same big kind of boring monstrosity.

Gods I hope Elektron and Teenage Engineering and Korg and even Ableton (especially now that they own Cycling 74 as we think about Opcode’s old heyday) stay fairly independent.

yep - and almost Max: the commercialised version was an Opcode product at the time

I am using Sonar since Apple killed my good old first DAW for PC, which was Logic. Sad news :frowning:

That’s not the first time that software is beeing discontinued for me … and it’s one of the major reasons, I prefer hardware in the studio.

Now, time for making back-ups is coming …

And I hope that there will be some interesting crossgrade offerings soon. There is a couple of new customers on the market now
