so I considered dropping it… the MDUW had been collecting dust for a few months here…
and the last few times playing with I was’nt impressed with how it sounded at all… like soap or something, I thought…
but then i gave it another spin today… pluggin AF into it and mangling it with the RAM machines… never done this before, lol, always the other way around… this time the MDUW got to be on top…
so uhh… NO WAY!
definitely keeping this bitch. there’s nothing like it
it’s a snippet from a jam yes… the 20 minutes which came before the part above were less listenable haha
so a basic beat on MD, with one RAM machine pair which deals with the A4…
there’s a CTL-EQ machine sweeping the PF parameter, hence the phasing effect…
the stuff on the A4 is really, really messed up… performance macros are randomized, and messing mostly with percussion sounds lol… good stuff happens when MDUW RAM machines mess with A4 reverb trails, and the resulting samples go through the MD’s own lo-fi reverb…
Yeah I love the sound of the MD sampling. Kinda like an S950 but not as bright. Thought of selling it too but we don’t exactly know what the AR is yet. Although I’m guessing A4 sound engine.
yeah i like sampling on the MD more than on the octatrack for a fair number of things - well it’s different, easier to pre-sequence live sampling into the sound, cool feedback effects etc. imo i think the MD synth engines are most fun stacked to make super sample food.
ridiculous amounts of tasty-ness. dang. i’ve yet to crack the code on ram/rom/sampling on the machinedrum _is there a talk through better than the manual?
Lots of MDs going up on eBay. Looks like GAS has kicked in because the AR is here. I could never give up my MD. But now is a great time to pick one up if you need one.
