Gamechanger Audio Recoder

Have you tried unplugging the Rec Input?

Hey there! How are you! Thanks for you answer.

I am aware of the routing options. I have connected only MAIN IN and REC OUT but the sound coming out is still a blend. I have also tried as manual suggested (REC OUT and MAIN OUT, both connected to get the wet and the dry)

Yeah, I had high hopes for the simplest explanation.

I just spent a decent amount of time trying to reproduce your situation. I discovered a faulty cable in the process, so I went straight in to stereo. Input, with no Rec In connection. The main Out to the left channel, Rec Out to the right channel.

Dry came out left, with Recoder unengaged. Engaged kicked in the effect out the right channel. Then I disconnected the main Out. No signal of any kind with Recoder unengaged. All effect out of Rec Out when engaged, isolated to the right channel. I repeated that across all three Play modes.

I’m baffled. I understand the mix being present in Out, with no Rec Out plugged in. Falls in line with the manual descriptions: “continuous conversation” and “interplay between two signals”. But I’m not getting the same dry / wet blend you’re describing by hooking it up in similar fashions.

I’m going to try out a few more scenarios, but there’s my progress report to date. I originally hooked up a slow panner between Out & Rec Out as an audible test, and came to much the same conclusion.

I tried your stereo routing and still happens a “mono” blend.
Disengaged, there’s only left signal (Main Out).
Engaged, the right signal (REC Out) kicks in but it is the same signal as for left.
Please have a listen to the audio.

Also in this video he shows exact same behaviour as my unit. I asked him too and he says it should be addressed with firmware update (no timing when).

I don’t know, my friend. I can only report back my test results from this particular unit. If it matters, I ordered mine first batch, on the original cutoff date. Dec. 25th 2025, before they added an ordering extension to Batch 1.

Seems odd that would crop up in a later unit, firmware fix upcoming. You’d think it’d show up in the early batches. But GCA was tinkering around a lot with the design & features, post-ordering. Mine actually delivered a full six months after committing.

I’m visiting Gamechanger in Riga next week, so I’ll ask what the deal is with firmware when I see em.

You know what just might be a great enhancement in a firmware update: “(Memory) File access via USB - Currently not supported”.

Hey there, did you get any info?

Met Karlis who works on the brains behind the pedals and everyone there. He had a recoder open as I was chatting to him. I didn’t get any real details of an update, but assumed there would be one. It was more of a tour and to meet them all.
They’re a small friendly team with meticulous attention to detail, and were clearly frustrated that they had to keep going back and refining the pedal several times, but they absolutely want to get this right, so I feel they’re far from leaving it as it is. They’ve got this new Plus II pedal that they’re trying to ship and that’s their focus right now to get that out the door. They’re manufacturing and 3d printing parts in house and optimising everything with bespoke parts for stuff that doesn’t come off the shelf. Even just making content videos and manuals and stuff is something they mentioned they want to try and do more of which is difficult when they all have to sit around large desks and build and assemble 3000 units together at a time! It was an interesting behind the scenes, that showed the passion they have for making experimental gear that challenges equipment that isn’t just art and one off and small batch stuff and where more experimental devices cross over into more mass production things. If there’s anything specific people are looking for, I’d suggest firing them an email too to ask.

Thanks for this insight! I was sure they were ton busy on Plus II pedal.

I already wrote them an email. I’ll patiently wait, RECODER deserves it. I really like what it’s coming out of it but without dry-wet separation it’s quite not that useful in my setup
