Gamechanger Audio Recoder

Gamechanger Audio are hinting they will release something new next Friday, which is coincidentally Black Friday…my most beloved (and most used) pedals are theirs. Plus, Bigsby, Light - such incredible and expressive pieces of gear! I wonder what’s coming.

Blindly ordered one, but I’ve been using a lot of max spectral and style transfer DSP last couple of years, and if this does similar in a box, could be very cool for grabbing textures and tones from!

I got mine at a discounted price after guessing the typos in that contest they were running, so it ended up costing me like 160€, which made it easier for me to buy it blindly. I’m excited about it now that I know what’s coming home! These guys are geniuses.

I thought about getting one of these because it’s a pretty unique effect, but I can’t support this fomo business model where they’re pretending they’ll never do another run even if it’s a huge success.

Ordered one. Going to be a lot more than the £182 price once VAT, customs, handling, etc added on, sadly. But seems a fun toy to start the year off with.

I’m assuming they’ll do something similar to the noise engineering Versio series, where they’ve developed a new digital platform, and they’ll release new pedals with essentially different firmware. (that could be flashed with alternative models once they’re out in the world).

It’s a neat idea, but it would be nice to have some audio samples available prior to purchase. Kind of gives me a bad feeling when combined with the limited time ordering aspect.

Yeah I don’t agree with the marketing aspect of it. I’d rather know what I’m buying, and I fell for it because of who they are basically

demo is out. i picked one up :grimacing:

I’m interested in the other features, the demo was quite repetitive - it was clear how it works after the second option. However, the way the pedal reacts to the different sources is very impressive so that part of the demo was quite powerful I think. I’m thinking about using this pedal on drum machines anyway, not guitar

yeah, shame it’s guitar centric demo, as actually I reckon other more wild and transient sound sources and richer timbre stuff are likely to really make this thing sing. Anyway, feeling bit more reassured about my purchase now, looks pretty deep and like a hardware Cepstral morph.

This is the type of audio processing I’d like to see in the Tonverk.

Most ripping Flanger i’ve heard in a long time

the demos sound a bid random, but there seems to be potential

they’ve just upgraded the units abilities because of the overwhelming pre orders with new features, quite an interesting way of making gear, I like it so far!

Nice upgrades!

definitely too bad the demo video is so guitar oriented. I guess that’s who they feel their target market is, and the indeed the pedal market is probably deeper. A lot of the video is pretty pedestrian but there are some really cool moments in there where you can sense the potential. I pre-ordered one, so I guess it worked.

One of the things I want most in a sampler is the ability to mangle vocal samples in unique ways. It seems like this ultra affordable sampler is capable of doing this better than any other hardware sampler being produced right now.

totally. think of it as a sampler and timbre transfer machine you can stomp on! they haven’t even demo’d the granular stuff yet too!

sounds extremely underwhelming imo, but like the potential is there

It could be a cool insert for the Octatrack.
