I would get one if I had not picked up the Eventide H90. I do want their motor based synthesizer.
Their “buy it by the 10th or you miss out!” has now changed to “Buy it by the 25th or you miss out!”

link please, thanks!
Yeah, but it’s probably only genuinely annoying to those buying to flip on Reverb for an insta-profit. For those looking to mess around with it for a while, other than feeling a bit rushed into making a decision to buy, it doesn’t really matter one way or the other, does it?
Well you’ve hit the nail on the head in your comment. The entire sales strategy was FOMO, so it feels disingenuous. People were rushed into buying something based on an arbitrary and imaginary limitation designed to generate excitement and poor decision making.
I’m with a few others in this thread - I don’t like it - it’s capitalising on GAS which is a fairly icky component of our hobby. It’s manipulative.
On the upside, it looks like a cool toy, priced at a level which is reasonably non-exploitative of our wallets and probably capable of providing at least a few hours of musical distraction (or otherwise, depending on our skill and abilities). So it’s hard to feel too mad about it. My major concern about it is (with the “new” capabilities) the increased complexity of the thing. I suspect when it arrives I will be more perplexed by its capabilities than annoyed that a few more people than expected got the opportunity to buy it.
Sure and don’t take this as a criticism of the buyers, I’m not giving people that bought it a hard time - this is behavioural economics dialled up to 11.
But when there is clear evidence that people were buying it before they knew what it even did it’s clear that there is a problem - and that’s why they’ve done it. Release it as a regular product with demos and no limitation on production and they probably would have sold half as many, if that.
But yea I’m sure that some fun will be had with it before they start hitting ebay.
Fair comment!
Although I quite agree with your point of view, I feel it’s fair to mention that they explained exactly what it does on the website from day 1. What may has been really missing was the usual demos avalanche.
To be honest, I was convinced by the description and felt I would find the stuff interesting even without listening to it beforehand.
I was going to take a chance and order one, then they released that demo video and I thought no thanks it’s not for me.
No. 8 should be with me in January.
Apparently G.A have given it longer sampling times and added an on device microphone.
I’m obviously not in a balanced state of mind as I usually prefer to research and study a product before parting with money yet with owning a few of their products I feel okay about it.
I am happy that I seem to have been allocated #666. Lets hope I get some suitably devilish tones out of it…
I find a granulised recording of a belch should work for a satanic sound.
Did I expect a new reverb pedal? No. Will I complain about another reverb pedal? Hell no.
I may be an exception, but I went into this with eyes wide open. The information on the (original) features was all there for the reading. Was it all presented in an easily-digestible format, with youtubers distilling it down to their take on it? No.
It did require several back & forth reads of the Eng / Math toggles. More than a few. And some deeper familiarity of the effect components, drawing from similar-type FX parameters.
That said, I did wait until the (first) deadline to finally decide. (Ironically, the extension to 25 Dec popped up right after I completed my purchase). It had to fulfill my Golden Rule: bringing enough to the table that I can’t emulate with what I already have.
This may be the first pre-order I’ve ever done, as I research every aspect of a purchase to a fault. The marketing aspects were certainly unusual. Good experiences with GCA devices didn’t hurt. No regrets, though, and even less after the two post-purchase update packages.
like
first thing coming to my mind: what if Mad Professor had THIS from the start for all Ariwa sessions
that’s the vibe i get from RECODER and that’s a nice vibe -cheers
I thought the first customers should already have their unit. But apparently that’s not the case. I don’t see any videos other than from the Gamechanger staff.
i’ve read production actually is on and first shippings will arrive in about 4-5 weeks
