He’s one of my favorite vocalists of all time, so thank you for that. Would make my heart explode in triumph if that ever happened.

have you ever heard of the band Far?

super quietly influential band from the 90’s - early 2000’s, they were doing things that people weren’t doing musically for like 10 years after them. maybe listen to bury white, or the ballad of simon and constance.

lupe fiasco uses some far song (I think man overboard?) on one of his songs.

singer jonah matranga is a genius vocalist.

No. Googling now.

I really dig it. Bury White was the first song I listened to. Second song was not as good but I’m definitely going back for more.

Sacramento band I see. Are you secretly the bassist or something? :star_struck:

I wasn’t expecting it to lean so heavily into rock territory but I kinda dig that it does. Like if Thom didn’t go down the electro rabbit hole so deeply, but he’s got his own sound too, it doesn’t sound like mimicry like Coldplay or muse. The first song, I didn’t get the connection but the second song, I got it.

Okay, checking out “The ballad of…” now.

Woah, this is like Tool or something. I really like it. Not that I really like Tool per say but I like some Tool, and again, they have their own sound and swagger, it doesn’t sound like mimicry. I think I can hear what you’re saying about them being ahead of their time here in this one.

actually I was going to mention that if you ever heard that rock funk cover of the ginuwine song pony that was popular for a while around 2008, that’s actually far but I think they released it under an alias.

I’m actually really happy that this is in my thread. It’s fucking hilarious. Not necessarily in a good way, but yeah.

Now I have to upload another song. I can’t let the early 2000’s rock cover of Pony be the last word on my thread, for any significant period of time.

Thanks again!

Edit: Furreal tho, thanks for tuning me into Far.

Not to get too meta and derail the thread… but I try to put intention in everything I do… So my new name is actually an evolution…

My old name was Doc McCoy… people called me Doc…

They would say… “whats up, Doc”

That was Bugs Bunny’s catchphrase…

Bunny’s are Rabbits…

I am BLKrbbt.

Edit… the original name was an homage to Steve McQueen.
