NIGHTREIGN is a standalone adventure within the ELDEN RING universe, crafted to bring a new gaming experience.
RISE TOGETHER Join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring 3-player co-op.
BECOME A HERO Take command of uniquely skilled heroes, each possessing their own abilities and distinct flair. While individually powerful, their skills grow even more formidable when united as a team.
TAKE ON THE NIGHT Overcome a relentless environmental threat that sweeps through a land that changes between each game session and defeat the magnificent boss of that night!
…I think I’ll be looking for some co-op buddies. Maybe some 'nauts will be game to play?!
I’ll have to wait and try the game to declare anything somehow definitive, but I’m kind of sad.
Elden Ring Was a major disapointment for me, I had incredible moments and the first hours were mindblowing but in the end, it was a giantstep in all bad directions other than Lore and wordbuilding. Mimic tear was mostly used because i wasn’t enough engaged and wanted to be done with it.
Shadow of the Erdtree was even worse, awesome start…did not bother to enter Radhan’s Arena…There is about 10% chances that i will play ER again.
Meanwhile, i have my 3rd playthrough of Sekiro, 2nd one of Bloodborne and 4th one of DS3 “scheduled” before Monster Hunter Wilds.
and i can’t wait…
For now, this release gives me the feeling that FromSoft has become too big, and the supposed buy by Sony is not for the better.
Lies of P, Stellar Blade and right now Black Myth : Wukong are far superior propositions combat wise.
Maybe this future title will give a new exciting take on it but to this day, Sekiro remains the absolute peak.
Somehow, i still think that only FromSoft can deliver something as powerful and elegant as Bloodborne…again.
We’ll see.
Well apparently there are 4 or 5 projects being worked on. I think everyone was surprised we got another Elden Ring game, but clearly this is a side dish before the next main course. So, hope you get what you’re looking for.
Nightreign (anyone else keep hearing night train?) seems neat but I’m not sure it’s for me.
I’ll just wait and see what it’s like once it’s out.
I like single player games where I can customize the crap out of my character, and haven’t been playing multiplayer games much since having kids. We’ll see!
Ziostorm points out here that Nightreign is under a different director which initially reminds me of how Dark Souls 2 was received.
But I think it’s great for them to stretch and have the rest of the team try new stuff.
Was just playing Sekiro for the first time tonight and noticed the similarity between the main theme and Renalla’s theme in ER. I think it was Kitamura but believe she moved on from From Software after some years with the company. Cool clip from that period below:
Talking about Yuka Kitamura, Sekiro, and similarities, This theme from Dark Souls 2 is already announcing Sekiro’s OST.
I will miss her music so badly in FromSoftware’s future releases.
On a side note, so jealous of you experiencing Sekiro for the first time, i’ll always remember the original spine chills when launching the game…the main theme played and i already was bathing in epic territory.
Started Elden Ring a couple days ago. I haven’t enjoyed a FromSoft game since the original Dark Souls - I’ve stopped playing all the other games after just a couple hours and quit dark souls 3 at the first boss - but this one has me hooked. I’ve played for 12 hours and I still haven’t killed the dude at the castle gate - the exploration is incredible. I also just became aware of how many things I’m probably missing but that’s half the joy of these games. This world is so intriguing and I really want to know wtf is going on.
You’re in for a ride! I started playing elden ring for the first time in August this year and haven’t stopped yet (150+ hours in, lol). The exploration is phenomenal. Just started with the DLC a few days ago and the bar remains just as high as the main game set it.
I have a feeling I’ll probably stop at a certain notoriously difficult boss fight, but I’m going to enjoy the game up until then. I’m loving the NPCs, atmosphere and world building. I’ve had a handful of things spoiled for me over the years, but that hasn’t lessened the sense of awe and wonder at the world they created.
Yeah, definitely one of the hardest fights of the game, I think. But optional, as far as I know. A nice aspect of elden ring is that there’s always lots of other stuff to do or areas to explore when you’re stuck on a hard enemy.
Seems to be going good so far. I’m up to the end of the estate with everything on fire and have that boss to down. There was a moment where I was getting flogged but then rested or went back to the dilapidated temple, and suddenly a whole bunch of tools opened up to me. Took a bit to digest that.
Just on a side note, I certainly much enjoyed and continue to enjoy Elden Ring, something like 400 hours now. So was looking back through the From catalogue for something else. I have AC6 but it hasn’t quite clicked yet. I boot it up from time to time but it hasn’t quite hooked me.
There’s a certain limit to how far back I can go, I think. Elden Ring has set the bar, and Fires of Rubicon is also at that bar. They’re modern From Software titles, and anything before them is somewhat antiquated for me. Dark Souls is just too far back, Elden Ring might have spoiled them for me.
That’s not meant as a criticism, just as an unfortunate side effect for those of us arriving to the party late. I wish I had experienced dark souls back when it came out.
Sekiro on the other hand, imo, sits between both worlds. It’s both simultaneously a new and old Fromsoft title. I debated a long time about purchasing it. But things like jumping, wall climbing, it’s that verticality that it adds that keeps it nimble, so to speak, that the heavy grounded nature of Souls doesn’t offer. And damn is it fast. You really need to lean into that fastness to stay on your toes.
It actually really blows me away. That generational leap - you can see it. It’s just a handful of years but it’s there - clean, sharp, hi-res. There’s a cloudiness, almost like a veil of mist covering previous from titles that’s just been lifted.
One other thing just on Sekiro that I didn’t expect - is how much Wukong has ripped from it. I don’t know if anyone else has played that game but it takes a lot from Sekiro and I was surprised by how much.
