I highly, highly recommend playing the game blind, without spoilers, without figuring out the most OP build etc. The game is great, I think it’s the best game I have ever played and nothing comes close when it comes to exploration and the feeling of being on an adventure.
If you don’t pay enough attention and are not curious enough, you could finish the game and never see 1/4 of the map, as there are many hidden locations and hidden bosses.
My advice is to just find a weapon you enjoy using and test different things. I really liked katanas on my first playthrough, recently did a 2 greatswords str build and it was bonkers - running a character in underwear wielding 2 swords almost as big as me was crazy.
Don’t forget to level your vitality and endurance - as a newcomer I would focus on those stats and remember to upgrade your weapons
Great call. Endurance has got to be the most essential attribute, especially starting out.
I’m still taking it slow. Avoiding the smoke mostly.lol. Only engaging low level creatures and stooge sentinels. Have already seen and avoided a HUGE dragon, Knight on a horse and a few bosses I don’t know about but anticipate lay and wait for me behind yellow smoke walls in secret dungeons I’ve found.
This game is amazing. The scope and depth is incomprehensible.
The sound in this game is phenomenal my God. Really makes the new Explore Earbuds shine. So glad I finally came aboard.
So far, zero complaints. Still so much I don’t know about but somehow I get the feeling it’ll all be made crystal in time.
If you are buying them to double as your main earbuds for use with your phone—no. Apple, Beatsfit Pro, Samsung and several others in the price range are better and offer more features.
However, if you are specifically looking for the best gaming buds for PS5 and/or Portal—they can’t be beat. Seriously, there is literally not another set that does what they do.
Definitely not perfect but I wouldn’t want to be without them. I can give you more info if you like via PM. Don’t want to get flagged for being off topic.
That’s the one lol. There is a funny psychology to the game (that’s assuredly intended) where early on you are the punished subject dying endlessly. As things progress, the things you kill over and over become relatable as objects stuck in an endless loop of death. I get that is video games on the whole but making the most powerful/game advancing thing be to kill a squad of dudes taking a nap is just hilarious.
This is the part that made me quit playing the game before beating the final boss.
I’ve gotten slack online for saying this part should have been removed.
What I LOVED about the game WAS the danger.
If I needed to get stronger, then I needed to level up.
If I need to level up, then I need to find a new quest to go on or explore a new cave. The progression of my character was directly linked to the danger I put myself in.
I enjoyed that spot for a couple of levels, but it completely screwed my immersion in the game.
When I tried to go back to exploring, I knew I was wasting my time doing the fun part of the game; when I could more efficiently and less dangerously grind at that spot.
The gravitational force that linked me to the game had vanished and everything about the game felt nihilistic
Bloodborne is my favorite for sure hands down, the theme, the bosses the fast pace style of fighting. I would give everything for them to make at least a 60 FPS version of it. I recently tried to play it again and the frame rate is so terrible that I just can’t like physically cannot play it
Worst is Sekiro, never beat it but it is because I am bad at parrying tried twice to play Sekiro and I usually just give up.
Oh yes. A smoother Bloodborne would be incredible. What an insane game that is. Dripping with atmosphere.
I want to love Sekiro. I think it is rad as heck, but I have the same issues with parry timing. In souls games and Elden Ring I tend to glass cannon it and dodge, forsaking shields and parries. I just can’t do that with Sekiro.
I’ve started playthroughs a few times, but I get pretty beat.
Wild that’s easily my favourite, followed by Elden Ring — I LOVED the the parrying system in Sekiro (movement as well, amazing!), after I understood it I felt like a real life shinobi
The beauty of Elden Ring is that you can make it easier if you so wish. You absolutely don’t need to rune farm. Some don’t even like using ashes to get an edge! Honestly, folks online consider it cheating
First play through, I definitely farmed. Second character play through (and NG+’s) I haven’t needed to really.
I can’t decide between Sekiro and ER. The former was much, much harder to beat but the rush it gave when I finally got over the finish line is possibly the best feeling I’ve had from gaming in my life. But…
I don’t think a game has ever given me what ER did over that launch weekend. Just the pure sense of awe and exploration I got from the ridiculous amount of hours I put in that weekend was stunning. I still talk about it regular with a pal of mine who bought it that weekend too.
100%, I remember telling a friend I feel privileged to be part of the generation that got to witness this game at release…it was something truly special.
Yea Sekiro is a whole different beast I’ve always said it is DDR Souls (which is not a slight at all) It’s just I am too old and don’t have the time it takes to master Sekiro.
Don’t get me wrong I think Sek is an amazing amazing game it all comes down to time and that there is no getting around (ie lvl farming, getting op etc) the parry mechanic you need to know patterns and honestly I just can’t. I def ain’t knocking it tho just ain’t for me.
Even though I love Elden Ring (it did take me a year to finally start playing it) There is a lot I don’t like about it and it is mainly due to the size and repetitiveness of it, this really only matters if you’re a completionist and I am. I am on my third playthrough and I still have to (thanks to my brain) do everything (EVERYTHING) lol. I am hoping that the DLC changes that and there is a lot of new things (not just recopies of dungeons and bosses)
…and what of those who farmed and still could not beat the Elden Beast solo?
I tend to agree with @G0n35y that it is optional, so no one has to farm. There’s enough difficulty in this game that having ONE location where a player CAN farm should they choose to do so is ok. It’s a good balance to me.
…but I also understand the argument that having it available somehow… alters the game. But even being able to farm doesn’t mean you’ll be able to beat any of the bastard bosses later on in the game. (ahem )
this made me lol
You guys are making me want to get back into it for reasons other than training up for the DLC!
