FromSoftware Games Thread

Same here. At some point I may go back and play them, but I’m mostly just hoping they might do some kind of collection one day.

I’m so glad I had a third wind addiction a few months back. My brain is still somewhat calibrated to Elden Ring, I cleaned up some larger end-game bosses, and was basically just collecting things before polishing it off. Might hop back in every couple of weeks, you know, just to stay frosty

I have had a think and my reservations about Elden Ring I think are due to it being basically a hybrid of Dark Souls and Bloodborne, whilst being its own thing.

Dark Souls = slower pace, focus on defence, tighter, more focused areas.
Bloodborne = faster pace, focus on offence, tighter, more focused areas.
Elden Ring = Faster pace, focus on offence, mixture of open and tight areas.

I guess Elden Ring gameplay is like a ‘jack of all trades’ of the Dark Souls and Bloodborne mechanics, which also plays with the open world thing. Overall it’s a tremendous success and I love it.

Of course, there’s also the other FromSoft stuff:

Sekiro = slower pace, mixture of offence + defence, tighter, more focused areas.
Armored Core = fastest pace, mixture of offence + defence, tight, hyper-focused areas.

Love to see them exploring new concepts while mixing in their existing work. Can’t wait to smash out Shadow of the Erdtree with my mate.

Looks great. I really wish I liked this game.

Still waiting for the Demon’s Souls DLC so we can visit the Land of the Giants at the broken archstone.

Complete “From” noob here. Just hopped into Elden Ring. I’ve been eyeing it for years but always intimidated by what I’ve read. 10 minutes in I can see this game is definitely gonna raise my stress and cannabis consumption :weary:.

Like, wtf am I supposed to do?lol

I picked the warrior priest build but I feel like I should have picked the cool looking Astronomer or Samarai. Whatever. I guess it doesn’t matter much in the long run. I hope not.

Right off the bat I learned not to trust the messages. People are trolls and one sent me jumping to my death a few seconds in.lmao.

Walked down the steps and shit got real fast. Monster with a bunch of arms swinging swords at me. Why so much animosity? I wasn’t in the world long enough to offend anyone. Mf teleported me somewhere.

Now I’m wondering around some hole in the ground, clueless and scared.lol.

Wtf did I get myself into?

I’m not watching any YouTube guides. Honestly I don’t know what any of those dweebs are going on about anyways. Seems so complicated hearing experienced players talk about it and the pause menu looks like Japanese arithmetic written in Spanish to me. No clue.

I guess I’ll just keep getting murdered until I figure out what’s going on.lol

Yep, and you’ll have a great time doing it too. Elden Ring was my first Souls game and I loved it. Enjoy!

Just ignore the first knight on the horse, explore first

Its the general tipp, if you are facing a block, take some other direction, and see what is there, level up, get gear, and then try again. Facing the first actual boss you should have level 12 to make it a bit easier. Always try to learn the move set, only attack if there is a window.

I will say that there is something so beautiful about this game.

Not in the Insomniac Spider-Man 2 flawless graphics type way. Can’t put my finger on it but it is very engaging and the feeling of danger is everywhere.

I’ve literally only just started less than an hour ago but I’m thinking I may just play this on the big screen vs Portal. Although it’s running great, I think I should experience this on my Oled. Don’t want to miss any details.

The atmo is indeed one of the best i expierienced, i did 2x platin (1x steam, 1x psn) it was worth it, but i got so spoiled , that i hardly played other games after this one. The music in the game is also absolutly great, imho. (Ok, did a bloodborne run after this one ^^.)

There’s nothing like exploring a FromSoft world for the first time. It sucks me in like few other games have managed.

Can’t wait for the ER DLC to come out, but going to start a new run in a few weeks to de-rust. Thinking maybe about doing a rapier based build, not tried those in this game yet.

I always play offline. Those ghost players freaked me out whenever they entered the screen! Anxiety-wise this game was quite bad for me. But the sense of accomplishment… was worth it.

Don’t worry about understanding all details of builds, items etc. Don’t even worry about the general stuff…just play and enjoy. It will all become clear over the weeks and months.

There are some really good ones – Rogier’s, scarlet rot, freeze/ice (shoots out an icicle).

And then there are the heavy thrusting swords that are also fun to experiment with!

All you need to remind yourself is the ancient mantra. “Git Gud”. Just say that over and over again while you’re playing and you’ll be alright. Remember that pain is joy, suffering is happiness, and death is living.

I wish I had the time to do this! I realized a month or so ago that the only character I have beaten Mohg with is on New Game+ – can’t go into the DLC with that much extra punishment!

So my latest FromSoft adventure is Demon’s Souls on PS5. Have the platinum trophies for the European, Japanese and North American copies of the PS3 versions of the game (in that order) so will be nice to add another plat to the list for this incredible developer.

My main character is over-levelled too. I think I’m going to start a fresh character when the DLC comes out and enjoy the ride all over again!
