Free Multisamples for Tonverk

Just a heads up for anyone interested:

There were quite a few (I think 30Gb+) free multisamples on the Deluge forum a while back.

No idea if they’re still there. Might be worth a look though!

For users of the 1010music blackbox the free content download from the forum includes multisamples from Symplesound.

AFAIK from what people have said there is currently no way to load multisamples onto the device, you have to make them from the recorder to add more. Could be wrong and I’m sure they’ll update it eventually, but thanks all the same!

I was trying to do that last night with out success i thought it was me but if thats the case i will be sending it back

Whats the point of having a multisampler if you cant load multisamples onto the device

If this is true I won’t be getting one! Seems like a glaring omission.

Thats the main reason i bought it was to use all my multi samples on it

You would thought that they would have released a .elmulti converter

Its a pity it sounds great etc but if it doesn’t do what i bought it for then i will send it back

How can u call it a Polyphonic multisampler when it cant actually playback multisamples baffling

Isn’t it that the multi-samples have to be in sfz format and then the Tonverk will import them? (I don’t have a Tonverk)

See:

So with existing sfz file just follow steps 4-6?

There doesn’t seem to be anything in the Tonverk manual about this though.

There is some discussing about importing sfz files in this thread too: Multisampling non-midi instruments on Tonverk

Yes, it needs to be sfz Format. Or TV’s native elmulti format.

Either way, nobody needs to touch a Mulit’s WAV files, and resampling an existing Multi would be madness :wink:

Brian seems to know something about this:

Brian has been piecing things together thanks to fine fellows who have been sending him sample files.

I ordered a TV shortly after the announcement, it arrived late yesterday; will be playing with it over the next few days :grinning:

Okay good to know then! Some early reviewers mentioned you couldn’t yet but maybe they just didn’t figure out how?

As mentioned before, any of my SFZ (including with loop fades) do work on the TV.

I guess many SFZs habe cr_p in them that the TV doesn’t interpret.

yeah, we’d need to establish all the

that do work, then we will know which ones wont

i read from another thread that the log file can show you why a particular sampler patch didnt load… useful for debugging

Quite an old list, but hopefully helpful for those in search of the perfect bassoon sample set.

So what I figured out so far for using existing SFZ files:

  • Simple SFZ have the best chance to succes
  • Loading error details show up in the logfile (You can create one via SETTINGSSYSTEMSAVE DIAGNOSTICS)
  • If the samples are not 24 bit / 48khz, the Tonverk can crash
  • If you only keep the <group> and <region> tags you have the most luck it will work (<global> and <control> tags with their settings mostly give problems or do not work)
  • label_** tags are not supported (and this will give loading errors, the exact reasons can also be found in the logfile)
  • lovel and hivel are supported, but only if they do not overlap
  • Loops are supported but I don’t know exactly how. see the example below: @Jeanne you might give us an example how you did it in your own SFZ files? :angel:
loop_mode=loop_continuous
loop_start=14284
loop_end=24034

It feels very flakey now to just do some trial and error and see what’s supported and what is not. It is very rewarding though, if after some adjustments, you have a nice piano or strings with velocity layers :sunglasses:

It would help if @Elektron would give us documentation of which tags / controls are supported (also for the native elmulti format) so we can start creating multisample patches which actually make sense :wink:

This is supposed to be great for creating multi-samples. It also supports sfz files, unfortunately it’s not cheap.

Great work with this list of findings.

One of the most famous examples of these files (Samples from Mars) or at least some of them are 44.1, so that may be an issue.

Yep agreed, I went with this in my suggestions email to Elektron.

Crossing fingers/holding thumbs for morre info…

easy enough to use sox to convert 44.1k to 48k with minimal fidelity loss

Ive had some success but that was transfering Sf2 to SFZ using Sforzando they show up as Multis in the Tonverk but i haven’t had any success transferring Waves to SFZ and getting Tonverk to recognise them ConvertWithMoss doesnt work for me either
